D3baseball.com Team of the Week

The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, honoring performers at each position from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors. This is the sixth Team of the Week of the 2017 season.

Games of March 13-19, 2017

C  Will Anderson, Sr., Gettysburg

Anderson batted .542 (13-for-24) and slugged .958 over the final eight games of Gettysburg's Spring Break trip to Florida. He smacked a double, three triples, and a home run, and he also piled up 10 runs and nine RBIs. He threw out runners at a .667 clip and did not commit an error.

1B  Eric Elkus, Sr., Earlham

Elkus batted .600 (9-for-15) in four games for the Quakers. With four doubles and a home run, he slugged 1.067. Elkus scored six runs and drove in 13.

2B  Brian Killinger , Sr, Adrian

Batting second in the order, Killinger had a .647/.700/.882 slashline to help Adrian to a 3-1 record at the Snowbird Collegiate Baseball Classic in Port Charlotte, Fla. He led the Bulldogs with eight runs scored and was flawless in the field with 20 total chances. Along with three RBIs, he had two doubles and a triple.

SS  Ryan Dorow, Sr., Adrian

Dorow led Adrian to wins over Marietta, No. 9 Wooster, No. 25 North Central (Ill.) with 12 runs batted in, .667 batting average (12-for-18), on-base percentage (.727) and slugging (.944). He also was perfect with 19 fielding chances from his shortstop, where he was part of five double plays turned.

3B  Vaibdhav Desai, Sr., Becker

Desai led the Hawks to a 4-1 record this past week which included a three game sweep of NECC rival Daniel Webster. Desai earned a batting average .500 after going 11-for-22 with three doubles and 13 RBI, to earn a slugging percentage of .636. Desai also had a complete game victory over RPI. Desai tossed all nine innings, allowing just one earned run on five hits while striking out three.

OF  Tyler Daley, Sr., Franklin and Marshall

Tyler Daley earned a .621/.703/.862 split through eight games last week, tallying 18 hits and scoring 16 runs in 29 at-bats. Five of those hits were doubles as he also drew eight walks and collected seven RBIs.

OF  Michael Schimpf, Sr., Centenary (La.)

Schimpf continued his hot start to the season when he had multiple hits and two RBI's with at least a run scored in every game of a three-game sweep of Schreiner. He was especially potent as 4-of-6 RBI's came with two outs. With Schreiner up 1-0 after the top of the first in game one, Schimpf drove in a run with two outs to jumpstart the Gents offensive explosion.

OF  Adrian Spitz, Sr., New York University

Spitz hit .516 (16-for 31) in the Violets' six games during the week. The senior hit two home runs and had five multi-hit games, including three with at least three, while batting in 16 runs and scoring four.

DH  Paul Britt, So., St. Joseph's (Long Island)

Britt went 7-for-11 for a .636 batting average in three games for the Golden Eagles. He scored four runs and drove in four. With two walks and two HPB, he got on base at a .714 clip.

SP  Martin Alcoverde, Sr. St, Scholastica

In Saturday's 3-0 victory over Webster, Alcoverde pitched nine innings, allowing only one hit and a walk, while striking out 12 to earn the complete game shutout.

SP  RJ Brown, Jr., St. Mary's (Minn.)

Brown put together the best pitching performance of his collegiate career, tossing a seven-inning no-hitter in leading the Cardinal's to a 10-0 win over Aurora last Friday. Brown allowed just three base runners, two via Cardinal errors and the other on a second-inning hit batter, in posting Saint Mary's first no-hitter in more than two decades. He struck out six, did not walk a batter, and faced just 24 batters.

SP  Jeremy Rice, Sr., Southwestern

Rice hurled a nine-inning no-hitter in Southwestern's 21-0 win over Blackburn on Friday. Rice, who struck out seven batters and faced only one over the minimum, threw 113 pitches, including 80 strikes. The only batter to reach base did so on a throwing error from a groundball.

RP  David Stover, Jr., Marietta

Stover played key roles in three wins for the Pioneers. He threw 2.0 shutout innings and got save against Webster. He threw 5.0 for the extra inning win against #19 Keystone. He threw 1.0 shutout inning in win over #25 North Central (Ill.). Overall he pitched 9.0 innings with no runs allowed with eight hits and one walk.
