NCAA regionals coming soon

USA Stadium in Millington, Tenn., was the site of the SCAC tournament in 2011.

Many teams credit home field advantage as to why they make frequent appearances in the College World Series. Some of these teams will be put to the test to back up their talk as the NCAA released the locations for the regional championships recently.

For the second consecutive year Cortland State will be hosting an NCAA Regional. The New York Regional will be held at Falcon Park in Auburn, N.Y., home of the Auburn Doubledays.

Kean has been a regular at the national championship round since 2007. For the fourth straight year it will be Kean hosting the Mid-Atlantic Regional. The Regional will be held at FirstEnergy Park, home of the Lakewood Blueclaws, a Class A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies.

Marietta will host the Mideast Regional at Don Schaly, the home stadium for the college. Marietta is no stranger to the NCAA playoffs as the Championship round was held at Marietta from 1976-1987.

UW-Whitewater will host its second straight Midwest regional on its home field as well, Prucha Field. Hosting the Central Regional is Illinois Wesleyan. The school hasn’t hosted a regional since 2007.

McMurry is hosting the West Regional this year and will do so at Walt Driggers Field after an absence of three years. The New England Regional will return to Whitehouse Field after briefly being played on Eastern Connecticut State’s campus field.
Hosting the South Regional will be Rhodes of Memphis, Tenn. The games will be played at USA Stadium in Millington, Tenn., the site of the 2011 SCAC tournament and the USA’s official training site for Olympic teams from 1986-1996.
