Trio combine on no-hitter

Three Principia pitchers, Luke Ball, Greg Ball, and Robbie Nickell, combine to throw a no hitter en route to a 10-0 victory in the home opener.

Luke Ball earned the win in the third no-hitter thrown in D-III baseball.

Luke Ball earned the victory going five strong innings striking out seven. Greg Ball came in relief in the sixth inning pitching a scoreless frame and Robbie Nickell pitched the last two innings striking out 3 batters.

The Panthers offense got off to a fast start scoring two runs on three hits in the first inning. Over the next three innings the offense was held in check, but came alive again in the 5th inning, as Alan Cheatham had a huge two out base hit to score two. Over the next three innings the Panthers continued to add on scoring five more times.

Alan Cheatham led the offensive attack going 2-for-5 with three RBIs. Spencer Clevenger went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI, Kit Banko went 2-for-3 with a RBI, and Alistair Brockmeyer also went 2-for-3 with a double and a RBI.

With the victory the Panthers move to 3-0 and are back in action at home next Thursday March 8th against Robert Morris University.
