HANOVER, Md. - The Stevenson baseball team had 13 players who participated in the Maryland Collegiate Baseball League (MCBL) this summer, including six on the champion Baltimore Chop who won both the regular season and post-season tournament.

Rising seniors Andrew Haab and Josh Morris, junior Garrett Sites, sophomore Bret Schiling and recent graduates Nick Meyer and Zac Stavish represented the Chop.

Stavish totaled 29 hits and a .319 batting average while adding 16 RBIs, eight doubles and 18 walks. Sites had the game-winning RBI-single with two outs in the bottom on the eighth off of Salisbury's Kyle Hamby that scored Stavish to give the Chop a 4-3 win over the Gaithersburg Giants Blue in the title game.

Sites finished second on the team behind Stavish with a .298 batting average while Schilling had a .286 batting average.

The Chop came back to win the double elimination tournament after losing to the Giants in game one, 13-1. The Chop finished the season with a league-best 23-9 record, winning eight of their last 10 games.

The Giants featured two Mustangs in rising seniors Brad Blum and Chris Street. Blum hit .323 with 21 hits, 13 runs and nine RBIs while Street posted 21 strikeouts and held opponents to a .167 batting average in 16.1 innings pitched.

The Putty Hill Panthers Blue had four players from Stevenson, including rising senior Heath Johnson and juniors Drew Leibert, Joe Walkinski and Scott Merkel.
