Texas Lutheran bounced back from one-run loss Friday and registered 4-1 and 10-1 victories Saturday over Howard Payne. At TLU's Katt-Isbel Field, Bulldog pitching held HPU to two runs and 12 hits over 16 innings of play. Aaron Aleman and Kelly McGriff each picked up pitching wins for TLU. Aleman went six innings in the early game and scattered four hits. McGriff (2-0) tossed five innings of shutout baseball in game two. He struck out three and allowed just three hits.

Logan Allen went 3-for-4, Riley Smith went 2-for-4 with an RBI and the Occidental had a 2-1 lead through 6.5 innings. But Redlands scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh, beating the Tigers 4-2 in the second game of a three game series, and the first of a doubleheader at Redlands.

Senior Dan Gayeski and sophomore Eric Dillard each pitched well and the DeSales Bulldogs rebounded from its first Freedom Conference loss yesterday to sweep a Freedom Conference doubleheader on Saturday at Delaware Valley College by scores of 6-3 and 4-2 to win two of three in the series with the Aggies over the weekend.

Junior starter Mike Weinhold and sophomore Steve Price combined for 14 innings pitched, striking out 16 and surrendering just one run during Saturday's conference doubleheader sweep of Elizabethtown at Angelica Park. Alvernia took game one 3-1 and erupted in the second game 19-0.

Olivet continued its trend in MIAA play by splitting a doubleheader for the fifth consecutive time this season. Behind a one-hit shutout from junior Jake Ball, the Comets crushed Hope , 13-0, in the opener. The Flying Dutchmen rallied to win the second game, 4-2.

Endicott scored five runs in the first inning and three runs in the second inning of each of their games, which led to two victories and a sweep of Eastern Nazarene in a CCC doubleheader at North Field. The Gulls improved to 23-8 all time against Eastern Nazarene with victories of 16-7 in the opener and 14-2 in the night cap.

Bridgewater (Va.) remained undefeated in conference play by sweeping a against Hampden-Sydney. The Eagles won the opener 9-5 and held off the Tigers, 7-6, in the second game. Senior lefty Joseph Lucas turned in a solid performance in the opener with seven innings of work. The Eagles received another solid start on the mound in the second game as Robert Gallet worked into the eighth. He pitched 7.1 innings and allowed seven hits and five runs.

Junior Peter Burrows and first-year John Meuchner combined to allow one run and seven hits in 15 innings pitched, and senior captain centerfielder Michael Rueger finished 6-for-10 with five runs and three RBI at the plate, leading Trinity (Conn.) to a 8-1 and 10-0 doubleheader sweep against the visiting Colby Mules in NESCAC East Division action this afternoon. 

Trine came away with two big victories against visiting MIAA conference rival Alma, winning 3-2 and 5-2 respectively. The two wins pull the Thunder to 10-9 on the season and 6-4 in the closely contested conference season.

Behind a pair of dominant pitching performances by senior classmates Nick Bonofiglio and Alex Teal, Worcester State defeated MCLA, 6-1 and 4-0, in MASCAC action this afternoon at Auburn High School. In the opener for the Lancers, Bonofiglio tossed a complete-game one-hitter, giving up the lone earned run as he tied a school record with 15 strikeouts. The mark is also held by Tino Proietti who did it against Anna Maria in 1998. In the second contest, Teal was equally as impressive as he helped his team record the first shutout of the campaign for the Lancers. On just 88 pitches, Teal scattered seven hits over his seven innings on the bump while he fanned six and dealt one free pass.

Lehman stifled the Beavers all afternoon as the CCNY Beavers fell in to Lehman College 12-4 in game one and 6-4 in game two.

For the first time in its storied history, Southern Maine has swept Eastern Connecticut State on the road. The Huskies downed the Warriors by scores of 7-5 and 14-4 in Little East Conference action on Saturday at Eastern Stadium. Southern Maine and ECSU began playing each other in 1972, and in 16 previous trips to Connecticut, The Huskies had never managed more the split until today.

Mary Hardin-Baylor swept the final day of competition with the Sul Ross State Lobos, earning 10-5 and 11-4 wins over the Lobos. UMHB improves to 16-15 on the season and 8-7 in ASC action while Sul Ross falls to 11-19 overall and 3-9 in conference play.

With back-to-back dominating pitching performances from Kyle Szatrowski, Patrick Austin, Tyler Kane, and Lucas Ilges UMASS-Boston remains undefeated in Little East Conference play as they swept the Anchormen of Rhode Island College by the finals of 6-2 and 8-2 at Anchormen Field. The pair of wins, not only keeps the Beacons atop the conference standings, but evens the Beacons record at 2-2 for the week after dropping two tough non-conference games.

The Southwestern Pirates had great defense and kept close, until errors cost them the game to Dallas, losing 5-2. What seemed to be a tight game started to come apart for Southwestern in the last two innings.  A couple of miscues allowed the Crusaders to extend a lead the Pirate could not overcome.

Steve Hagen threw the first complete-game shutout of his career, a six-hitter, during the opener to lead Wooster to a 4-0 victory over Wabash, then the Fighting Scots completed the non-league sweep with a hard-fought 5-2 win during the second game at Art Murray Field.

Marian opened the Northern Athletics Conference schedule and settled for a doubleheader split against host Dominican after winning game one, 8-1, behind a solid pitching performance from junior Sam Forkert. The Stars took game two, 12-2, in seven innings to earn the split.

Illinois College split a doubleheader at Monmouth, less than 24 hours after sweeping a doubleheader against the Fighting Scots in Jacksonville. Illinois College lost the first game, 6-5, before bouncing back with an 8-7 win in the second game.

Lynchburg coasted in game one before being challenged every inch of the way in game two of Saturday's ODAC doubleheader with Randolph-Macon. The Hornets took game one, 8-0, before game two was halted due to darkness tied 10-10 heading to the 17^th inning. The second game was the longest of the 2013 season in ODAC baseball, three innings longer than the previous mark, which also included Randolph-Macon. but six innings short of the D-III record.

McDaniel got a pair of complete-game efforts from its two starting pitchers to key a doubleheader sweep of Muhlenberg in Centennial Conference action. James Chiorello went the distance in game one, fanning nine for the Green Terror in a 2-1 victory. Zach Jones matched Chiorello with a complete-game effort, striking out four in a 3-0 shutout.

MIT took two games from host WPI in NEWMAC action in Rochdale Park in Leicester, with an 11-3 win in the first game followed by an 11-5 victory in the nightcap. The Engineers of MIT are now 14-3 with a 10-1 conference record while the Boynton Hillers of WPI fall to 9-18 and 4-10 against NEWMAC opponents.

Washington & Jefferson collected 24 hits and was aided by six Grove City errors as the Presidents swept a PAC doubleheader from the Wolverines at Ross Memorial Park. W&J took game one by an 11-4 count and rolled to a 14-2 triumph in the nightcap. Junior right fielder Josh Staniscia led the Presidents’ offensive outburst with four hits, four runs batted in and a trio of runs scored.

Penn State Behrend swept Penn State Altoona by scores of 5-1 and 10-3 in an AMCC doubleheader. In game one, the Lions put up two runs in both the second and third to help pitcher Justin Wood pick up his second victory of the season. A big fifth inning in game two helped Behrend take home the sweep.

New Jersey City University caught two bad breaks in game one and left the tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position with two out in the bottom of the ninth before falling to Rutgers-Newark, 3-2, in the opening game of a NJAC doubleheader at the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex. In game two, rookie right-hander Jomas Casiano improved to 3-0 to open his career and freshman catcher Andrew Niech belted his third homer of the season to pace the Gothic Knights to an 8-3 win.
