ERIE—Derrick Capiak threw a no-hitter to lead Mount
Aloysius (26-14) to a 3-0 win over defending champion La Roche
College in the second round of the A.M.C.C. playoffs.
Capiak struck out seven and gave up two walks. Both of his
walks were in the first inning, just before the game entered into a
near hour-long rain delay. He was perfect off of the mound
once play resumed.
The game was scoreless until Mount Aloysius’ Connor Bowie
tripled to bring in two runs in the top of the ninth inning.
Bowie scored on the subsequent play when Alex Martin dropped a
sacrifice bunt down the first base line.
Capiak a sophomore from Williamstown, NJ improved to 10-2 on the
season.
