Ferrum's Darren Hodges has resigned his position as baseball coach to pursue other interests. Hodges joined the Panther athletic staff in August 1998 as assistant baseball coach. He was promoted to head coach in April 2007, and remained in that position through the 2013 season.
In six seasons as head coach, Hodges compiled a 100-106 career coaching record. Ferrum was 12-22 this past season, 6-18 in the USA South.
Hodges' best season came in 2010, in which the Panthers closed
the season with a 25-13 record. Ferrum had 20 All-Conference and 32
Academic All-Conference selections under Hodges. He also coached
2012 USA South Player of the Year Paul Jaglowski, who went on to
earn Academic All-America and was Ferrum's 2012 President's Cup
recipient.
A national search to replace Hodges will begin immediately.
