A sparkling 90-pitch start and .500 batting average that featured seven extra base hits helped guide Pacific Lutheran’s Kyle Rossman and Huntingdon’s Jordan Freeman to Week Two National Collegiate Baseball Writers’ Division III Player of the Week awards for the period of Feb. 23-March 1.

Rossman, a right-handed starting pitcher from Puyallup, Wash., handcuffed NWC rival Pacific (Ore.) to just a lone hit in his home debut March 1. The sophomore allowed a base hit to the second batter of the game and then faced 27 straight batters without allowing another. He finished the day with one walk and one hit batter to go with eight strikeouts, as only one runner reached base between the first and eighth frames, due to a throwing error, and was erased on a double play. Of his 90 pitches, the NWC Pitcher of the Week fired 60 strikes in the 14-0 victory.
