Anderson's Kyle Otolski hit a single to score Glan Collier in the top of the 11th inning to key an 8-7 victory over Earlham in the HCAC season opener.  The two teams mirrored each other all game, as each scored one run in the second inning, three in the fourth, and three in the seventh. Both squads tallied 14 hits for the game.

No. 3 Cortland State swept New Paltz  in a doubleheader on Friday afternoon, marking the first games of the season in SUNYAC. The Hawks fell twice to the Red Dragons, 16-2 in game one and 6-1 in game two.

Wartburg swept a conference opening doubleheader from Coe, winning the first game 5-2 and the second game 7-1. With the wins, the Knights have now won 12 games in a row.

Manchester collected 20 hits during a 15-run outburst and defeated Transylvania 15-8 in the opener of a three game series. The preseason league favorites and two-time defending champions received a pair of home runs from senior third baseman Jordan Nieman who has no hit safely in 14 straight games and reached base in 15 successive contests.

UMass Dartmouth baseball team raced out to a 12-1 lead and fended off a late charge from Western New England to complete its Southern swing with a 13-9 victory. The UMass Dartmouth attack pounded out a season-best 16 hits, including five doubles and a triple, en route to its highest offensive production of the campaign.

Loras swept Simpson to open IIAC play. Game one was a pitchers' duel, with just seven total runs crossing the plate in a 4-3 victory. In game two, Loras' hitting broke out to score nine runs in a 9-2 win. Sophomore Tony Heiser stole the show for the Duhawks, hitting a two-run home run to right field in game one to tie the game at three before driving in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.

Washington & Jefferson and The College of New Jersey split a spring break doubleheader. After the Lions won their third consecutive game with a 7-5 victory, they ran into a hot pitcher and fell 2-0. Billy Groves was that hot pitcher as he worked all seven innings and allowed just six hits, while striking out eight and walking none for his third win.

Sam Tinkham is 2-0 for the Grinnell Pioneers.

Grinnell College snapped a five-game losing streak, rolling over Ripon 8-3. Sam Tinkham  worked seven innings on the mound and fanned 11 batters.  At the plate Ryan Penaflor and Walker Bell each had three hits. Grinnell pounded out 15 hits.

Mary Hardin-Baylor grabbed early leads in both games and never looked back as the Cru rolled to a doubleheader sweep over the University of the Ozarks in Arkansas. UMHB won game one 6-2 before taking a 12-4 victory in game two.

Dubuque jumped out to a 6-0 lead en route to a 19-5 win over McDaniel at the Gene Cusic Classic in non-conference baseball action. Daniel Casanova led Dubuque at the plate with a 4-for-5 day with three RBI. Tyler Gilbert drove in all five runs for McDaniel, including a sixth-inning grand slam.

The No.1 UW-Whitewater Warhawks needed their bats yesterday to start their season with a win and they kept them out as they defeated William Paterson team 22-1. Every player for UWW got a hit and by the time the game ended, all fielding positions were staffed by reserves. In the Warhawks second game of the day, the offense evaporated in the Florida sun as Rowan dealt the top ranked team a 9-3 loss.

Chapman defeated George Fox, 4-1 on opening-day of the four-game series at Hart Park. The Panthers have won six of their last seven games at home this season. Junior pitcher Matt Smith tossed nine complete innings for a career-high of 10 strikeouts, allowing just one run while improving his record to 5-1 this season.

Buena Vista scored four unanswered runs, including the eventual game-winner in the top of the ninth inning, to come all the way back to top St. Mary's (Minn.), 4-3, to begin play at the Wheaton College Invitational. Ryan Duncan led off the ninth with a triple and scored the go-ahead run on an RBI single from Neil Marshall.

Anthony Morino had four hits in Mount Union's win.

Mount Union rallied in its last at-bat then Brandon Bell closed out a 6-3 win over Pitt-Greensburg in the home opener at 23rd Street Field . With the game tied at 3-3 with two outs in the eighth inning, Nick Piotrowski drove in two runs on a double down the left field line and Sean Mohney had an RBI single to put Mount Union up 6-3.

WPI's DJ Ouellette and Alex Venditti connected on two-run homers in an 11-4 victory over visiting Fitchburg State in a non-conference game at the New England Baseball Complex. The weather was once again a factor as the game was halted after seven innings. Aidan Freeburg collected his second win of the season with a one-hit, seven-strikeout performance through six innings. Drew Gelinas struck out two in the final frame for the hosts.

If it wasn't mandatory to play the sixth inning every game, Edgewood might opt to skip it. Friday morning it was a pair of sixth inning rallies by Bethel that sent the Eagles to a pair of losses at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic. The Royals broke open a one-run game to win 11-5 in the opener and then scored four in the sixth to hold on to an 8-7 victory over the Eagles.

It was a day of many emotions for Plattsburgh State, as they started their day with a victory against SUNYAC rival Fredonia State before ending it with a game they would like to forget against a non-conference opponent in Franklin & Marshall as a part of the RussMatt Invitational. Plattsburg State defeated Fredonia 6-5 and fell 22-5 to the Diplomats.
