Junior Matt Meleo tied a Kean single-game mark with a 6-for-6 start to the day as Kean swept Rutgers-Newark 11-7 and 7-3 at Jim Hynes Stadium on Saturday. Meleo was a home run shy of the cycle as he recorded four singles, a double and a triple in the opener, tying a mark held by two other former Cougars in the Kean record books.

Eighth-ranked Frostburg State used extra inning heroics to complete the CAC sweep of #1 Salisbury to earn a share of the regular season crown and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament, next week. After rolling to a big 10-0 win the first game to deal Salisbury its first loss of the year, the Bobcats (26-3, 16-2) needed extra innings to complete the sweep. The Bobcats and Sea Gulls (21-2, 16-2 CAC) were tied 7-7 after Salisbury used a three-run eighth to knot the game. Freshman Tyler Hoffman came out in relief in the ninth for Frostburg and got a 1-2-3 inning before the Bobcats went down in order to force extras.

Conrad Ziemendorf doubled home the go-ahead run with two outs in the top of the ninth as nationally second-ranked Cortland defeated Staten Island, 4-3, in the opening game of a non-league doubleheader. The Red Dragons also won the second game, 11-2, behind Matthew Michalski's three RBI and Alex Weingarten's six innings of four-hit ball.

The No. 3 UW-Whitewater Warhawks picked up its 15th straight victory before seeing the streak halted in the second half of a WIAC doubleheader against UW-La Crosse at Prucha Field at James B. Miller Stadium. The Warhawks took the opener by a 7-5 score before the Eagles claimed Game 2 by a 6-3 score. The loss was UW-Whitewater's first in regular season conference play since April 27 of last season. The setback also snapped the team's 16-game home win streak.

Averett's starting pitcher, Taylor Davis, held the Monarchs to just one hit in game one, ending No. 23 Methodist's 15-game win streak. The home team lost, 4-0, in game one, before coming back to take the second game, 7-3.  Davis saw the mound all nine innings for the Cougars, and struck out nine with three walks. Game two saw a different outcome, as the Monarchs increased their offensive output.

No. 4 Heidelberg split their third-straight OAC doubleheader, taking game one from Marietta before dropping the nightcap. A three-run home run byChristian Verde was the difference in game one as the Berg won 4-2, while a big first inning proved to be too much as the Student Princes fell 13-7 in game two.

Smokey Ethridge threw his second straight complete game, helping lead the Millsaps Majors to a 6-1 win over the Sewanee Tigers, Keith Shumaker followed suit as Millsaps outlasted Sewanee 4-2 in eight innings to complete the sweep. 

After winning 2-1 in 10 innings in game one, No. 6 Birmingham-Southern lost 11-2 to No. 14 Rhodes in game two today at Striplin Field. Senior Blake Stevens threw a complete game, giving up six hits and one earned run while walking only one batter and striking out 11 for the Panther's win. In the nightcap, the Rhodes offense was prolific, outscoring the Panthers 11-2 while only out hitting them 10-8.

The No. 7 UW-Stevens Point Pointer rallied to sweep both games of a WIAC doubleheader against UW-Oshkosh, defeating the Titans 8-5 and 11-6 at University Field. Bobby Gregorich hit an eighth-inning grand slam to give UW-Stevens Point a win in game one, as part of a 3-for-5, five RBI performance. In game two, UW-Stevens Point's top five hitters combined to score seven runs and drive in 10 to help the Pointers erase an early 3-1 deficit.

No. 9 Shenandoah punched its ticket into the ODAC  Tournament Saturday by sweeping a league doubleheader at Emory and Henry. Shenandoah was a 14-4 winner in the opener before winning game two 24-10 over the Wasps  in the nightcap. The Hornets banged out 21 hits and got five-hitter from junior Darrell Thompson in winning the opening game while four pitchers combined for the game two victory.

No. 19 Concordia (Texas) won both ends of a doubleheader against Howard Payne at Don Shepard Park to complete the ASC series sweep. The Tornados captured a 7-1 win in the opener and a 9-3 victory in the nightcap. Concordia, which has won 13 of its last 15 contests, allowed only one earned run in the three-game set.

An opening-act pitcher's duel and high-scoring nightcap both went Linfield's way as the 24th-ranked Wildcats took 4-1 and 10-6 victories against Whitman on a windy and occasionally rainy afternoon at Roy Helser Field.  The ‘Cats guaranteed themselves a series win in their final regular-season Northwest Conference set, and more importantly kept pace with Whitworth for second place in the team standings. Chris Haddeland took over the career strikeout record en route to the game one victory and Joseph Stevick earned his second win of the season to close out the day.

No. 11 Wartburg evened their four game set with Dubuque with with a couple of close wins. Wartburg withstood a game one rally to win, 5-3, and four Knight home runs put away the Spartans in game two, 10-8, in 11 innings.

Trinity (Texas), the 22nd-ranked baseball team, opened a SCAC road series with a pair of wins at the University of Dallas. The doubleheader featured outstanding pitching by the Tigers, as well as 32 combined hits over two seven-inning games. Both games were shortened due to the 10-run rule, beginning with Trinity's 11-1 victory to start the day. Game two was a 10-0 shutout for the Tigers. 

No. 15 Randolph-Macon and Lynchburg trade blowouts for a split of their ODAC doubleheader. Lynchburg utilized a dominant pitching performance and timely hitting to capture game one 13-1, before the Hornets responded for a 13-2 game two victory.

Ryan Dorosh dominated the opposition, setting a new school record with his 20th career win, helping Misericordia to a doubleheader sweep over Delaware Valley at Tambur Field. The Cougars cruised to an 18-2 victory in the opener and then completed the sweep with a 6-1 victory in game two of the twin-bill.

Freshman Jordan Bostater led No. 25-ranked Ohio Northern to a 8-4, 11-4 sweep of Muskingum at Wander Field. Bostater went 4-for-7 with seven RBIs and one run on the day.

Southern Maine senior pitcher Andrew Richards came out of the bullpen to pick up a win and a save to lead the No. 21 Huskies to a sweep of Rhode Island in Little East action played at Anchorman Field. Rhode Island lost game one, 9-5, and Southern Maine held off a late rally to win the nightcap, 9-6.

Putting an exclamation point on a surprising weekend, Central (Iowa) pounded out 13 hits to surge past No. 18 Buena Vista 8-6 after dropping the opener 6-1, taking three of four games in the series.

Nick Nalbach went 6-for-8 on the day to lead UW-Stout to a 6-2, 16-4 non-conference sweep of No. 10-ranked St. Thomas in St. Paul. The Blue Devils roughed up eight UST pitchers for 22 runs on 25 hits and capitalized on six walks and six hit batters. The Tommies hosted the game as a late switch due to standing water at the Stout home field. UST, which stranded 17 baserunners on the day, was swept on its home diamond for the first time in eight seasons.

North Park swept Saturday's doubleheader against No. 20 nationally-ranked Augustana at the Holmgren Athletic Complex, winning game one on Jeff Paulson's walk-off three-run homer before taking game two, 7-2. The Vikings travel to Augustana on Sunday to try for the series sweep.
