Cabrini has announced the addition of baseball as an intercollegiate sport. The search for a full-time head coach will begin immediately, with the first non-traditional season in to start in fall 2016 and the first traditional season to start in spring 2017.
"Sponsoring intercollegiate baseball will create additional opportunities for new and returning students to compete under the umbrella of Division III," athletic director Brad Koch said upon making the announcement. "We look forward to integrating those student-athletes into our campus culture and supporting the educational mission of Cabrini College. We have resources in place that will help this team perform at the highest level in the classroom, on the field and in the community."
The addition of baseball as an intercollegiate sport will complement the expansion and renovation of the Dixon Center, which includes new fitness space, new locker rooms, new storage areas and a new athletic training facility.
Baseball will become Cabrini's 17th intercollegiate sport, joining men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, field hockey, golf, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer, softball, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's tennis and volleyball.
Cabrini will compete in the Colonial States Athletic Conference, making Cabrini the eighth institution in the 12 member league to compete in baseball. The Cavaliers will join Cairn, Centenary (N.J.), Gwynedd Mercy, Immaculata, Keystone, Marywood and Neumann in CSAC competition.
Cabrini's home games will be played at Radnor's Archbishop Carroll High School.
