Pride wins ECAC Southeast championship

WESTMINSTER, Md.  (May 10, 2015) – The Widener baseball team won the ECAC Southeast Championship with a 7-5 decision over McDaniel on Sunday afternoon at Preston Field.
 
The Pride improve to 25-20, while the Green Terror fell to 19-15.
 
Sophomore Justin Healey (Ocean City, N.J.) was named the tournament's "Most Valuable Player" after a 2-for-4 game on Sunday. The second baseman broke a 4-4 tie in the top of the ninth with a two-run double to center field. The two-base knock scored sophomores Nicholas Enos (Williamstown, N.J.) and Justin Czupryna (Roxbury, N.J.).
 
Healey also scored twice and knocked in three for the Blue and Gold in the game.  He finished with a triple and a double on Sunday.
 
Enos finished the game 1-for-4 and a run scored. Sophomore Greg McDonough (Ambler, Pa.) was 2-for-3 with three runs batted in. Both of the center fielders hits were doubles. He finished the season with a team high 16 doubles.
 
Senior Robert Barth (Norristown, Pa.) earned is fifth win of the season. He allowed two hits, one run and fanned one in one-plus inning of work.
