2015 Triple Plays

Rose-Hulman turns triple play against Defiance (March 20, 2015)


On Friday Rose-Hulman turned the seasons first triple play. With the bases loaded, Defiance's Ryan Kohlhofer hit a line drive to Kody Alayon who stepped on second and threw over to Josh Koutnik at first to record the rare triple play.

Six triple plays were turned in 2014 with Babson, Concordia  (Texas), Maryville, North Central (Ill.), UW-Stevens Point and Wooster all doing the feat.


DeSales turns triple play against Kean (March 23, 2015)

With runners on first and second, Kean junior Sal Taormina lined a shot towards the middle on a hit and run. With the runners going, second baseman Tyler Sweeney was shading up the middle, and he snagged the line drive and started the easy turn to second base where Danny Licamara was covering for the second out. Licamara then threw to Jay Maletz at first for the inning ending play.


Babson turns triple play against Keene State (March 26, 2015)

Trevor Chapin lined out to right field to start a 9-3-6 triple play to get Babson out of a jam. Sophomore Jacob Weiss caught the sinking liner for the first out before throwing to first to retire junior Andy Johnson. First baseman Jack Halpin then threw down to second where Adam Ayala tagged the bag with senior Tanner Chase stuck between second and third.


Cortland turns triple play against Oswego (April 21, 2015)

Oswego's Jordan Giller popped up to the Cortland pitcher Seth Lamando who threw to shortstop Anthony Simon with a relay to first baseman Austin Clock. Myles Kutscher was out at first and Eric Hamilton at second.
