Mitchell opened the 2016 season with a 7-6 victory over Otterbein on Friday afternoon at the Cusic Classic. The Mariners never trailed but had to hold off a rally in the bottom of the ninth to seal the deal. The Mitchell offense finished with 13 hits and drew four walks on the day. Garet Griffin went 3-for-5 with a double, RBI and two runs scored in his Mitchell debut while Steven Pagan had two hits and a pair of RBIs.

Ohio Northern exploded for nine runs in the top of the eighth inning as they defeated St. Vincent. Northern recorded a season-high 17 hits on the afternoon with eight different Polar Bears recorded a hit, while scoring a season-high 22 runs.

Baruch received solid pitching to defeat Olivet, 3-2. Ryan Warner earned the win by going seven innings, allowing four hits, two runs (both earned) with one walk and five strikeouts for a solid outing. The Bearcats totaled only three hits but it was enough for the win.

Immaculata swept a doubleheader over La Roche by scores of 9-6 and 5-1 to improve to 4-3 on their Florida trip with one doubleheader remaining tomorrow morning against Widener.  On the day, the Mighty Macs got strong efforts on the mound in game one by Kenny Anderson, and the second complete game of the season from Dan Whalen in the nightcap.  Offensively, Rick DiDomenico had five hits in the two games, and reached base in all seven plate apperances.

Hardin-Simmons opened its ASC at Texas Dallas with a 4-3 at Comet Baseball Field in Richardson. Six different Cowboys had a hit for the Cowboys and David McKenzie had three hits to pace the Comets.

Albion built a 3-0 lead but with runs in each of the last three innings, Franklin walked off on Branden Pelley's ninth inning home run for a 4-3 victory. Pelley finished the game 2-for-3 with a double and his first dinger of the season.

Senior Julian Clarke is 2-0 with a 0.56 ERA in three apperances in 2016.

Washington (Mo.) ran its winning streak to six games with a doubleheader sweep of Augustana (Ill.) at Kelly Field. Julian Clarke tossed a complete-game victory allowing four hits and two unearned runs in a 4-2 win in game one, and then Brad Margolin tossed six innings allowing two earned runs in a 6-2 win in the nightcap.

SUNY Old Westbury continued play at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic to improve to 7-2 by sweeping the Finlandia Lions, 10-1 and 9-0. Daniel Aguilo fanned nine batters while issuing three hits and three walks in six innings of work to snag the game one win. In the nightcap, Danny D'Onofrio dominated the Lions with a complete game effort; striking out 13 (zero walks), scattering six hits.

Texas Lutheran outlasted No. 4-ranked Trinity 8-5 in the first game of a non-conference series between SCAC rivals. TLU scored two runs in the seventh and two runs in the eighth to pull away from the Tigers.

Mount Union scored 8-7 and 7-1 wins over Roger Williams at Chain O'Lakes Stadium in Winter Haven, Florida. In game one, Mount Union rallied from a two-run deficit in the sixth innning then pulled out an 8-7 win in the bottom of the seventh. In game two, Sam Clarke picked up his first win on the mound as he scattered five hits over six innings, giving up just one run and striking out two.

Pitt-Greensburg opened the inaugural Clemente Cup with an 11-5 victory over Penn State Abington, fueled by five-run eighth inning. The Bobcats droped their second game to SUNY Canton 6-9.
