Pacific wins 8th straight, Babson scores seven in comeback

Ben Rocquet had four hits and drove in five runs while his Pacific teammate Kurtis Kloke hit a grand slam and a double in the same inning, helping the Boxers out-slug Pomona-Pitzer 19-11 on Thursday afternoon at Alumni Field. It was the eighth consecutive win for Pacific.

Sophomore Mark Webber produced a two-run double and later came across as the go-ahead run as Babson scored seven times with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally past visiting Keene State, 7-4, in non-conference action at Govoni Field. This is the fifth win in the last six games for Babson.

Junior transfer Dave Murphy erupted for three doubles and three RBI to lead UMass-Bostonto a 12-1 win over Worcester State in a rain soaked affair at Monan Park.

Concordia Texas won its third and fourth contests in a row with a pair of victories over Louisiana College behind a wealth of extra-base hits. Adam Ortega's grand slam capped the scoring in an eight-run, six-hit sixth inning for the Tornados that vaulted them to a 12-5 triumph in the series opener. In game two, Connor Bertsch's two-run double in the top of the seventh helped CTX earn the sweep of Thursday's twin bill.

Trailing 11-4 as it went to bat in the eighth inning, the Buena Vista batsmen would go onto plate seven unearned run to tie things at 11-11 before senior Neil Marshall hit a walk-off double with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Beavers to a dramatic 12-11 victory over Carthage. The Red Men were upended by Bethel (Minn., 8-5), 16-3 in later game.

Shyler Scates pitched a complete game as the #5 Southern Maine held off the UW-Oshkosh Titans 7-4 at Chain O Lakes Park. Scates gave up four runs (three earned) on 15 singles and no walks while striking out one to notch his third win of the season.  The 6-foot-4 senior threw just 98 pitches for his third complete game of the season.  Scates also had the benefit of three double plays.

Mary Hardin-Baylor rallied in the ninth inning but could not overcome two defensive lapses in game two as the Cru settled for a doubleheader split with Sul Ross State in Belton. UMHB won game one 2-1 before falling 7-3 in game two.

Freshman Anthony Rosoline is now 4-0 for the Rutgers-Newark Scarlet Raiders.

Anthony Rosolie went six strong innings to improve to 4-0 and Cameron Dias went 3-for-4 with four RBI as the Rutgers University-Newark baseball team rolled to an 8-0 win over Baruch College at Riverfront Stadium Thursday afternoon. It was the Scarlet Raiders' first game in their hometown in 2016.

Travis Benoit rapped out three hits as Gordon plated a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to post a 5-3 non-league victory over Mass. Maritime at J. Tec White Field.

Nichols defeated Clark 6-3 in non-conference action at the Granger Diamond. The Bison sprung out to a 4-0 lead after three innings before adding a couple more in the ninth to secure their sixth win of the year.
