ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – With Sunday's 13-3 win over Elizabethtown, the Susquehanna baseball team clinched the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Landmark Conference Tournament. SU led 7-3 after eight innings before a six-run ninth put the game officially out of reach.

SU finished with a conference record of 16-5 while the Blue Jays finished at 14-7. The final seedings are still to be determined as two Landmark Conference games were postponed on Sunday due to weather. The Crusaders will host a best-of-three semifinal tournament on May 7-8. The first game begins at 11 a.m. on May 7.

Justin Cassinelli went 5-for-5 and hit for the cycle with three RBI and five runs scored. Zach Leone drove in two runs on two hits, as did Dylan Glassmire. Third baseman Bryan Palsi had two hits, two RBI and three runs scored as Susquehanna out-hit the Blue Jays (23-17, 14-7) 18-6.

Starter Ryan Beckwith went 4.1 innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on four hits before giving way to Cole Luzins. Luzins tossed the final 4.2 innings and picked up the win, his third of the season. He did not surrender a run and allowed just two hits while striking out four.

Susquehanna (25-14, 16-5) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on Matt Cassinell's RBI single through the left side.

Elizabethtown tied the game with a run in the bottom of the second and both teams plated runs in their respective halves of the third inning for a 2-1 game in favor of SU.

The Crusaders took a 3-2 lead in the fourth on a Blue Jays fielding error before scoring two more runs in the fifth. Glassmire's two-out double to left center allowed Palsi and Dylan Jenkins to score and SU took a 5-2 edge.

Elizabethtown made it 5-3 in its half of the fifth but SU got that run back the very next inning on Leone's RBI single to center for a 6-3 ballgame.

Justin Cassinelli homered to left center in the top of the eighth for a four-run SU lead (7-3) before the Crusaders exploded for six runs in the ninth. Cassinelli hit for the cycle with a two-run triple to right center that made it 12-3. Tom Shields's sac fly to right field scored Cassinelli for the game's final run.

Luzins then retired the side in order in the ninth to end the game.
