It was a picture perfect Opening Day for Gallaudet the Bison didn't disappoint their sun-soaked fans with a sweep of Valley Forge at Hoy Field. Gallaudet won the first game 13-5 and rallied to score 12 runs in the bottom of the sixth in a 16-4 victory as the game was called for darkness.
La Verne rode solid pitching and some clutch hitting to sweep No. 22 Cal Lutheran in a doubleheader winning a pair of one-run games, 3-2 and 5-4, at Ben Hines Field. La Verne's staff, which struggled with consistency out of the gate, was excellent today. The Leopards gave up just five earned runs and two walks in 18 innings on the day.
A walk-off wild pitch completed a comeback 6-5 win for North Park over Spalding as they rebounded from losses on Satuday to Spalding and Hendrix in Conway, Arkansas this past weekend.
After opening the season with a 16-10 loss to Spalding Saturday and losing a close 8-6 decision to host Hendrix, the Vikes came back with nine hits and three runs in the sixth inning of their final game down south.
Jack Massa and Steven Figueroa combined to drive in six runs and Patrick Merryweather allowed two hits and two runs in four and a third innings as No. 1 Cortland completed a weekend sweep at 24th-ranked Salisbury with a 7-2 victory. Massa finished 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI and Figueroa, coming off a 5-for-6 day Saturday, went 2-for-3 with a triple, two walks, two RBI and two runs scored. Merryweather earned the win as the first pitcher in a predetermined rotation for the Red Dragons. He did not allow any hits over the first four innings before giving up two singles in the fifth. He walked two, struck out four, and was charged with two runs.
Daniel Williams went 4-for-4 and drove in two runs while Ryan Cheatham allowed only one run in seven innings of work to help lead No. 20 ranked Texas-Tyler to a 4-1 win over Centenary in the final game of the Clements Fluids Classic at Irwin Field. Williams finished the three-game weekend 8-for-12 with five RBI for the Patriots who pounded out 15 hits in the win over the Gents. Trenton Buchhorn added three hits, while Tim Hunter and Gunnar Quick had two hits each to lead the offensive production.
Sewanee successfully completed its first three-game sweep under head coach David Jenkins, posting 3-1 and 4-0 wins over Wilmington at historic Montgomery Field. Pitching sustained the Sewanee squad this afternoon as Harrison Lee shined on the mound in game one and Josh Roberts did the same in game two.
Seniors Bill Munson and Ryan Olive each drove in three runs while senior Bennett Notestine and sophomore Nick Bosma drove in a pair of runs as Rhodes banged out 15 hits in an 11-5 home opening win over Fontbonne. Five Lynx had two hits or more as the Lynx lit up the Griffins pitching. Fontbonne jumped out to a 5-1 lead, but Rhodes scored 10 runs in the next eight innings for the win.
The Berry Vikings up their record to 5-3 after winning the final game against the Emory & Henry Wasps with a final score of 6-5. Michael Greene, one of six Berry pitchers, pitched his first save of the season, allowing one hit in the ninth and earning a strikeout.

Junior Rick Spiers drove in six and pitched 3.1 scoreless innings in relief as the tenth-ranked Randolph-Macon took two from RPI in a doubleheader on Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park. The Yellow Jackets (5-0) won the opener 10-4 before blanking the Engineers 7-0 in the nightcap to complete the three-game series sweep.
Centre posted an 8-0 shutout victory over Coast Guard on at the Perfect Game at Lakepoint Complex to pick up a three-game sweep of the Bears to open the 2017 campaign. The Colonels outscored Coast Guard by a combined score of 39-5 in the wins, batting .354 on the weekend while compiling a total of 40 base hits. The Centre pitching staff limited the Bears to hit .187 in the three games, allowing just three earned runs on 17 hits with 17 strikeouts and six walks.
The Lewis & Clark Pioneers won their Northwest Conference-opening series with the George Fox Bruins after sweeping a Sunday doubleheader, 15-12 and 8-7. Over the three games, senior Tommy Massari hit .667 and had five RBI, while Matt Donovan finished 8-for-14 from the plate, to lead a Pios offense that averaged nearly 10 runs per game. The series win is the first for the Pios against George Fox in at least 18 years.
Matt Krupa was 3-for-4 and Ivan Rivera drove in two as No. 19 Kean picked up their third straight win in a 9-3 victory over Brockport State. Southpaw Richie Ferguson earned the win after allowing six hits in seven innings with no earned runs.
Junior Gavin Blodgett came up in a clutch spot with a two-out single to left that made Chapman a 5-4 walkoff winner over Bates. Blodgett’s game-winning single capped a three-run, two-out rally in the ninth that improved the Panthers to 5-2 on the year.
The Hampden-Sydney Tigers improved to 3-0 on the young season while sweeping Penn State Harrisburg 3-2 and 16-1, in their home opener. The Tigers took game one in come-from-behind fashion, scoring three runs after trailing 2-0 in the third inning. Hampden-Sydney's offense exploded in the second game, using a ten-run second inning to win 16-1.
Freshman Shyae Bartnick went 2-for-4 and delivered an RBI single for his first career hit as part of a four-run fifth inning as Stevens took advantage of four Old Westbury errors to defeat the Panthers, 5-3, at Dobbelaar Field.
Rutgers-Newark ended its opening weekend to the 2017 season with a big 18-4 win over Penn State-Abington. Despite the 9 a.m. Sunday first pitch, the Rutgers-Newark offense clicked from the start, scoring eight runs in the first and one in the second to open a 9-2 lead and the Raiders never looked back.
No. 16 Shenandoah recorded its second doubleheader sweep in as many days Sunday by taking a pair from No. 5 La Roche. Shenandoah was a 5-3 winner in game one before finishing off the sweep with an 11-10 victory in the nightcap. The Hornets scored at least one run in every inning of the nightcap, but needed to hold on as the Redhawks rallied from a 6-2 deficit by scoring five runs in the top of the fifth.
Frostburg State concluded its weekend trip to Fayetteville with a 12-5 victory over Stevenson at J.P. Riddle Stadium. Junior Greg Schneider started the game and picked up his first win of the season with six shutout innings. Schneider allowed just four hits and racked up eight strikeouts. Frostburg scored 12 runs on 16 hits.
Oglethorpe earned a 3-game sweep over the visiting Curry Colonels after taking two games at Anderson Field. The Stormy Petrels used a big inning in each game to turn the contest in their favor, scoring three runs in the fifth inning of game one and four in the fourth inning of game two. In both cases, it gave Oglethorpe a lead they would never relinquish, as they won 4-2 in the first and 6-0 in the second.

DeSales scored five runs in the eighth inning erasing a 4-3 deficit en route to an 8-4 win over Mary Washington. Tommy Epsaro finished the game 3-for-5 with two runs scored, Danny Licamara and fellow senior Tyler Sweeney each had two hits.

First-year head coach Bernie Stratchko nabbed his first-ever coaching victories Saturday afternoon at the Hawk's Nest with a pair of wins over Mount Saint Mary (N.Y.) College in a home-opening doubleheader. The St. Mary's College of Maryland baseball team posted a 10-2 win in the first game before holding on for a 6-5 triumph in the nightcap.
No. 4 Emory closed out its seven-game home stand with an unblemished record, the fourth time Emory has started the season 7-0, as the Eagles took both game of the doubleheader from Washington & Lee at Chappell Park in Atlanta. Junior Nick Chambers registered the Eagles' third walk off of the season while sophomore Billy Dimlow allowed just one hit in seven innings of work, striking out eight, as Emory took game one by a score of 2-1. In game two, four pitchers combined for the four-hit shutout led by senior starter Luke Emmett. At the plate, the Eagles scored in all but one offensive inning en route to their largest runs outburst of the year as Emory finished off the weekend series by a 13-0 margin over the Generals.
Concordia (Texas), behind strong pitching performances, won the final game of a three game series 8-2 over Birmingham Southern. Matthew Williams, Kylen Harrell and Ryan Capel combined to pitch nine innings of two-run ball.
Williams received the ball for his third start of the season. He went 4.1 innings giving up two runs on five hits, while striking out three.
Guilford's Eric Yost threw seven and two-third shut-out innings as the Quakers cruised to a victory over Averett, 4-0. Yost finished with a career-high nine strikeouts in his first shutout effort as a Quakers. Ryan Hill totaled one and two-third innings, facing the minimum throughout his outing. Rocco Wilcox led Guilford's bats with a three-for-four effort with a double and two RBI. Mitchell Stumpo was the remaining Quakers' bat with a multi-hit afternoon, batting two-for-three with a double.
