Castleton continued its offensive onslaught Tuesday afternoon, powering six home runs behind 6.0 strong innings from Charles Stapleford on the mound as the Spartans rolled to a 15-0 victory over Norwich in a non-conference matchup at Spartan Field. After working out of an early jam, Stapleford settled in to pitch 6.0 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits with five strikeouts to pick up his first win of the season.

Nick Holt fired a no-hitter for six innings to help Hope split a makeup doubleheader at Kalamazoo. The sophomore lefthander from Muskegon, Michigan settled for a one-hit shutout in an 8-0 Game 1 victory after allowing a leadoff double to Jack Clark in the seventh inning. The Flying Dutchmen lost the second MIAA game 7-5. Holt struck out four while walking two and hitting one batter. Hope supported Holt with single runs in three innings and a five run second.
Sophomore Luke Klinehoffer and junior T.J. Storer led Ohio Northern as it won the first game of a twinbill at Wilmington 5-2 in 10 innings, before falling 3-2 in the nightcap. Klinehoffer led ONU at the plate in the first contest as he went 3-for-6 and added an RBI and run scored. Storer earned his OAC-leading seventh save of the season for the Polar Bears, getting and three quick outs. In the second contest Wilmington jumped out to a 3-0 lead after three innings and the Polar Bears could not ralley for a second win on the day.
The Highlanders brought the bats with them to the field. Cairn hammered the ball to the tune of 20 runs and 17 hits in the first game of a doubleheader against St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) , defeating the Bears by a 20-12 final in game one. Aaron Takacs and Nathan Wilson each led the charge with 4-5 efforts. Wilson finished with four hits, a walk, three runs, three RBI, and two doubles while Takacs wrapped up Game One with four hits, three runs, six RBI, and three doubles. In game two both Takacs and Nelson scored in the ninth ining as the Highlanders escaped with a 5-4 win. Daniel Morales' second RBI of the game was the game winner, emptying out the dugout with the sweep in hand.
Buena Vista nearly surrendered an 8-1 lead late, but a great defensive play with the tying run on third gave the Beavers an 8-7 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan to complete the season sweep of the Prairie Wolves. NWU chipped away at the BVU lead by plating two runs in the eighth inning only to add four more in the ninth. The Prairie Wolves nearly tied it, but second baseman Bryce Rheault made a stellar diving stab at a ball up the middle and flipped to Noah Paper covering second for the force out.
No. 1 Shenandoah finished off a regular season sweep of ODAC rival Bridgewater (Va.) with a 17-6 win at Bridgeforth Field. Shenandoah scored seven runs in the third, five in the fourth and four in the sixth to pull away from the Eagles. Bridgewater, which used 11 pitchers, issued 11 walks which allowed the Hornets to score the 17 runs on just 13 hits.
Rose-Hulman relied on a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th inning to earn a dramatic 7-6 win over Franklin in HCAC action at Art Nehf Field. Senior Drew Schnitz worked a 3-2 pitch for a walk to score Logan Schiessle with the winning run and lift Rose-Hulman into a first place tie in the HCAC standings with Franklin. Both teams stand 8-4 in conference play after tonight's result. Rose-Hulman scored two runs in the second, fifth and seventh innings to build a 6-4 lead entering the ninth inning. Franklin shortstop Sam Claycamp tied the game with a two-run home run, forcing extra innings in the first of three meetings between the two league title contenders this season.

North Central (Ill.) completed the season sweep over 24th-ranked Augustana as Sing Fong sent the Cardinals home 6-5 winners with a walk-off solo home run on the first pitch he saw in the bottom of the 11th inning. With the score knotted at five runs apiece in the bottom of the 11th, Fong jumped all over a belt high, first-pitch fastball, sending a laser over the left center field fence, his second career home run and second of the series against Augustana, as both home runs came off Viking reliever Casey Weir.
Wheaton (Mass.) took a 10 run lead through four innings en route to a 13-7 defeat of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Tuesday afternoon at Sidell Stadium in a NEWMAC contest. Tommy Larason got the start and the win for Wheaton, pitching 5.3 innings, allowing four runs on six hits, while striking out three. Sophomore Dan Finn went the first four innings for Coast Guard and took the loss.
On the first warm day of the spring 2017 campaign, a collegiate baseball game with a football score saw New Jersey City claim a wild victory. NJCU trailed FDU-Florham 9-4 and 14-13 after the Gothic Knights scored nine times in the third inning. In a tale of two games, NJCU’s bullpen shutdown the Devils in the second half of the game, limiting FDU to just one run in the final five innings as the Knights persevered for a 19-15 non-conference win at the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex. The Gothic Knights outhit FDU, 19-16, and tallied six doubles. The 34 runs occurred on a nearly 80-degree day with limited wind where neither team hit a home run.
Coming off a 1-2 series against division rival Wesleyan, the Williams College Ephs handled the Becker College Hawks with a 15-5 victory. Both teams registered double-digit hit totals, but Williams excelled in bringing their runners home; the Ephs batted .480 with runners on and .556 with runners in scoring position, compared with .273 and .308 marks respectively for the Hawks.
Endicott fell to No. 21 nationally ranked Saint Joseph's (Me.) by a 3-1 score in non-conference action at North Field. Tied 1-1 in the top of the seventh, the Monks took the lead for good on a Dan Donovan pinch-hit, run-producing double to right center, and a fielder's choice RBI off the bat of Taylor Black. Philip LeVangie picked up the win on three scoreless relief innings, which included three strikeouts, while Josh Partridge closed out the final 2.1 innings for his third save.

Wells got two strong pitching performances from Johnny Hall and Greyson Avots and swept a non-conference doubleheader against Clarks Summit at the Wells Turf Field in Aurora. Hall pitched a complete-game victory in a 10-2 Wells win in the opener. Avots went seven innings to earn a complete-game win by a 3-1 score in the second game. It is the first time this season that Wells has swept a doubleheader.
Kyle Bonicki blasted a go-ahead two-run home run and Clark reached the 20-win plateau for the first time in school history as they defeated Babson 8-3 in NEWMAC action. The Beavers, meanwhile, were playing with heavy hearts, seeing their first game action since the sudden passing of their teammate Daniel Cooney late last week.
Southern Maine scored five runs in the fourth inning on the way to opening up a 9-1 lead before holding off a furious ninth-inning Colby comeback to take a 9-6 victory in a non-conference game at Coombs Field. The Mules scored five runs in the ninth inning, and had the bases loaded with the winning run at the plate. USM sophomore Jake Dexter, the fourth pitcher of the inning and the son of Colby assistant coach Tom Dexter, earned his third save of the year after getting the final out.
Freshman Matthew Nickles tossed seven scoreless innings with seven strikeouts, and junior Rick Spiers belted a grand slam, as the 13th-ranked Randolph-Macon blanked Virginia Wesleyan 13-0 in ODAC play on Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park. Making his sixth start of the season, Nickles scattered four hits and walked one. He faced just three over the minimum through seven, aided by a pair of double plays. Junior Cody Thompson worked a 1-2-3 eighth with two strikeouts, while junior Christian Cok tossed a hitless ninth with one strikeout to preserve the shutout.
Springfield used an eight-run fifth inning to break open a two-run game as it toppled visiting Emerson, 19-8, in NEWMAC on Berry-Allen Field. The victory boosts the Pride's record to 10-6, 4-2 in conference play, while the Lions dropped to 8-11, 1-7. Springfield totaled 22 hits in the contest, with Colin King, Mark Joao, and Brandon Russo each totaling three hits. King led Springfield with three RBI, and Tyler Kelly earned the win on the mound, tossing six innings of eight-hit ball, while allowing five runs, four earned.
