Junior right-hander Tom Muratore tied his single-season best, earning his sixth victory of the season as the Lynx completed the season sweep of Daniel Webster with a 12-2 win Thursday afternoon. Muratore improved to 6-3 after allowing just two runs on four hits while striking out five Eagles.
No. 1 Shenandoah took sole possession of first place in the ODAC with a 9-5 win over Washington and Lee. Shenandoah now can clinch its fourth straight top seed at next week's ODAC Tournament by splitting its ODAC doubleheader with Virginia Wesleyan Saturday afternoon. W&L can earn the top seed by sweeping Emory and Henry Saturday combined with a VWC sweep over Shenandoah. The ODAC tournament begins one week from today at City Stadium in Lynchburg.
The top five hitters in the Eastern Connecticut State lineup combined for 11 hits, four RBI and four runs scored as the Warriors scored the first six runs of the game on the way to a 6-4 non-conference victory over Manhattanville at Manhattanville Field. Batting leadoff, sophomore leftfielder Alexander White hit his team-leading fourth home run of the year for Eastern (15-12), which improved to 13-8 away from home this year. Senior All-America centerfielder Alex Zachary and freshman DH John Mesagno – batting 3-5 in the order -- each had three hits, with White, and No. 2 hitter Pat Sirois adding two each in Eastern's 14-hit attack. As the first of six pitchers, sophomore righty John Parker won his second game in two decisions, striking out the side in his only inning after the Warriors pushed across the first run in the top of the first when White opened the game with a single and scored on sophomore third baseman Alex Parkos' one-out double to left-center.
Elmira picked up a 4-2 non-conference victory over visiting Alfred State at historic Dunn Field. Today's game featured a much higher level of defense by both sides, as the first game of this regular-season series on April 18 saw both teams combine for 35 runs. With the win, Elmira snapped a mini three-game skid and in the process ended Alfred State's three-game winning streak.
Texas-Tyler clinched the ASC regular-season title after Alex Bishop hit a two-run triple in the top of the 10th inning to lead the No. 4-ranked Patriots to a 7-5 series opening win over East Texas Baptist at Woods Field. Bishop, who had missed over month with an injury, was 3-for-5 in his return that was capped by driving in the two game-winning runs for the Patriots who improved to 32-5 overall and to 20-2 in conference play. Reese Read took the win after allowing the tying run in the ninth but then getting a lineout and two strikeouts in the 10th to finish off the game that was started by Ryan Cheatham who struck out five and allowed only three hits in five innings.
Freshman Thomas Persichetti ripped a two-out, game-winning single in the bottom of the ninth to lead TCNJ to a 2-1 victory over William Paterson in George Ackerman Park. Persichetti lined a 1-0 pitch to left-center to score Tommy McCarthy, who had singled with two starts to spark the rally. Ben Varone drew a walk to set Persichetti for the late-game heroics. The victory snaps a three-game skid on keeps TCNJ on course for a potential top seed in the 2017 NJAC Championship Tournament.
Endicott rallied for a come-from-behind victory, 5-3, at North Field against visiting Wheaton (Mass.) in a non-conference contest. The Gulls used a pitcher-by-committee approach after sophomore starter Zachary Sultar was bounced after just two innings on the hill. Sophomore reliever Will Bryant took the reins in the ninth to earn his team-leading fourth save (tied for second-most in the conference) of the season.

The Gothic Knights have become the Walkoff Knights and this time it was freshman Steven Ramos's turn to be the hero. New Jersey City University had just three hits in the first six innings and was losing 4-0, but scored twice in the seventh and eighth innings to tie it. Then, after a one-out double by senior second baseman Jeff Reinecke, Ramos made a plate appearance for the first time since April 11 and deposited a long walkoff single to deep center with two outs in the bottom of the ninth that Rowan could not catch as NJCU stunned the Profs, 5-4, in the opener of a NJAC home-and-home series at the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex.
Cortland reached the 30-win mark for the 13th straight season and the 23rd time in the last 24 years as the nationally eighth-ranked Red Dragons edged visiting Ithaca, 4-3. Andrew Barnes started for Cortland and took a no decision after throwing four scoreless innings. He gave up four hits and one walk and struck out three. Jake Casey earned the win after allowing one unearned run on one hit with a walk and a strikeout in an inning and a third. He was the pitcher of record when Cortland took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth inning. Billy Goncalves was the last of six Cortland relievers in the game and picked up the save.
Freshman lefty Joey Rogers was once again solid on the hill, and a three-run home run by Nick Herzog carried UMass-Boston to a crucial conference win as they defeated 21st ranked Southern Maine by the final of 9-1. Rogers went the first seven innings allowing the Huskies' lone run on a fourth-inning homer by rookie Dylan Hapworth. The southpaw, now 3-0 on the season, limited USM to just three hits and three walks while fanning three. Rogers did not allow a runner beyond second base other than Hapworth. Kaufman came on to pitch two scoreless innings.
Freshman Patrick Monteverde pitched the Marlins to a 2-0 victory in a critical ODAC game against Hampden-Sydney. The win moves the Marlins to 10-8 in league action, while Hampden-Sydney falls to 9-9. The Marlins are currently fourth in the ODAC standings, right in front of Hampden-Sydney, and have a little breathing room with a matchup with No. 1 Shenandoah on Saturday. Six teams make the ODAC tournament field, with Roanoke and Guilford tied for the sixth spot with an 8-10 record. The regular season concludes Saturday.
