Elmira saw a one run lead evaporate as Ithaca overcame a one-run deficit in the bottom of the ninth with a 4-3 walk-off two-run double on Thursday in the opening day of the Empire 8 tournament. In the opener, St. John Fisher also put up a crooked number in the ninth inning but Stevens' Danny Poidomani pitched zeros in the previous eight to deliver the Ducks a 7-3 opening day win. Stevens will play Ithaca and St. John Fisher has a date with Elmira in the next round on Friday.

Sophomore shortstop Braxton Riley singled home a run with a sharp shot up the middle, and senior first baseman Tailur Szarenski scurried home the eventual game-deciding tally a batter later as part of Manchester's final at-bat during its first game of the HCAC Championships. In the tournament opener, treshman Danny Dopp delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning lifting Earlham to a 4-3 victory over Rose-Hulman.
Aurora and Benedictine both went 1-1 on the opening day of the 2017 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament Aurora defeated Milwaukee School of Engineering 8-0 and Benedictine defeated Dominican 4-3 to advance to the play the top two seeds. Aurora fell to to host Concordia (Wisc.) while Concordia-Chicago took care of Benedictine 13-3. The top seeds, Concorcia (Wisc.) and Concordia-Chicago will meet on Friday after the remining four teams play two games in the elimination round.
Top-seeded and nationally ranked Mount Union beat fourth-seeded John Carroll 5-0 in the opening game of the OAC Tournament at 23rd Street Field in Alliance. Sophomore pitcher Phil Mary carried his strong season into the post-season as he threw a complete game four hitter striking out eight to move to 10-0 on the season for the Raiders. At the plate, junior center fielder Billy Goodall went 3-for-4 and drove in a run to lead a Mount Union offense that belted out 12 hits. Otterbein closed out the day with another shutout tossed in the OAC tournament. Junior Craig Prince tossed a complete-game, three hitter as Otterbein upset Marietta 5-0.
The 2017 UMAC tournament started off in high-scoring fashion with both of the top seeds coming up with victories. No. 2 Bethany Lutheran used 15 hits to take down No. 3 Minnesota Morris 7-4 in the opener, before No. 1 St. Scholastica defeated No. 4 UW-Superior 12-2 in seven innings. On the day, the biggest hitting performances came from St. Schoalstica. Eric Pearson led the Saints at the plate going 3-for-4 with six RBI and two runs scored, while Tyler Duex was a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, two runs, a walk and a sacrifice.
Adrian pitcher Pierce Banks went the distance to toss an eight-hit shutout while striking out five to push the Bulldogs into the MIAA championship game with an 11-0 win over Kalamazoo. Hunter Hayes went 3-for-3 with one run and four RBI, while Miccoy Drzewiecki energized Adrian's bottom of the order with a 3-for-4 day at the plate with two runs scored. Kalamazoo earned a rematch with 2-1 win over Calvin. Calvin could have used a couple of the runs from their earlier 18-2 blowout win over Hope to prevent elimination.
The 2017 MIAC baseball playoffs opened at Saint John's and Cold Spring. No. 4 Macalester played brilliantly to upset top-seeded Bethel, and No. 2 St. Thomas used a great team performance to beat No. 3 Saint John's.The fourth-seeded Scots got a remarkable pitching performance and some timely hitting to upend the MIAC regular-season co-champion Royals by the score of 5-3 at Becker Park on the Saint John's campus in Collegeville, Minn. No. 2 seed and regular season co-champion Tommies earned a shutout in a pitchers dual, beating the Johnnies by a score of 1-0.

Dante Dalesandro drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning to give No. 18 Washington & Jefferson a 9-8 win over Thiel to advance to the Presidents' Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals. The Presidents will play Grove City who rallied in a 8-7 win over Thomas More. The Wolverines scored four runs in top of the ninth and sophomore Phil Bell struck out the side in the bottom half as the third-seeded Wolverines upset No. 2-seed Thomas More.
Senior left-hander Tyler Leavitt pitched six strong innings and the No. 20 Southern Maine bats came alive in the latter innings as the Huskies defeated the Rhode Island College Anchormen 8-4 in an elimination game of the 2017 Little East Conference Baseball Championship Tournament at Ed Flaherty Field. Eastern Connecticut State also avoided elimination with a 4-1 win over Keene State. Warrior's senior lefty Ron Buchetto prolonged the Warriors' season for at least one day by working into the eighth inning, giving up only six hits and a walk while hitting two batters before being lifted with two runners on and two out and Eastern leading, 4-1, in the seventh. Sophomore lefty Nick Rascati got a ground ball to retire cleanup hitter Connor Walsh to close out the eighth, then pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his fifth save. Mass-Boston and Mass-Dartmouth was suspended at the end of eight tied 7-7.
Trailing by two with one out in the bottom of the ninth in the CCIW tournament opener, the North Central Cardinals rallied to load the bases before Nick Sotiros sent the Cardinals home 11-10 winners in an adventurous victory over Illinois Wesleyan with a three-run, walkoff double to left center. Augustana also walked off as they defeated Wheaton (Ill.) 3-2 in 12 innings when Ryan Kairis singled in the winning run with one out remaining.
No. 25 RIT extended its winning streak to 10 games, opening the postseason by defeating Vassar by a score of 11-5 in the double-elimination Liberty League Tournament from Tiger Stadium. The Tigers, who are nationally-ranked for the first time in program history, scored a run in each of its final six innings at the plate to control the game from the opening inning. The top-seeded Tigers will take on No. 2 seed Union on Friday after Union defeated Clarkson 5-3. Clarkson will play the loser of the winners bracket final after eliminating Vassar 11-1.
Sophomore Peyton Renning came through with a walk-off single to lift Buena Vista to a thrilling 5-4 victory over Central College to begin Thursday's Iowa Conference Tournament inside of Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids. BVU then turned around and blanked second-seed Dubuque, 2-0, on the strength of a complete-game shutout from senior Jake Hadaway. Against the Spartans, Hadaway scattered five hits and striked out eight en route to his first complete game of the year. Coe score three runs in both their games, winning the first 3-1 over Luther but dropping a 7-3 contest to top seeded Wartburg.
Wooster's hitting, pitching, and fielding were on display in a 10-2 win over Denison in the opening day of the NCAC tournament. The No. 9 Scots' matched the Div. III single-game high with five double plays, and the offense scored in five of its eight trips to the plate at VA Memorial Stadium. Next up for Wooster will be DePauw. The Tigers defeated Oberlin 5-4 in the late game.
