Methodist took advantage of eight errors and recorded 11 hits on its way to a 12-5 victory against No. 13 Keystone in the first day of the Armstrong/Diamond Invitational. For the Monarchs, Matthias Carter was 4-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored, while Ethan Carmack was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Methodist combined for 11 hits. For Keystone, Chris Panzarella and Dakota McFadden were each 2-for-4 at the plate, while Bray Curreri scored twice.
Frostburg State opened its season with a doubleheader against Penn State Abington at J.P. Riddle Stadium in North Carolina and earned a sweep against the Nittany Lions. Frostburg posted a 6-1 victory in game one and cruised to a 23-9 triumph in the nightcap. Two seniors highlighted the day for FSU with Greg Schneider notching 15 strikeouts in the first game while Matt Bougourd tied a school record eight RBI in the nightcap.
Occidental opened its SCIAC season with a 10-3 win over Whittier at Anderson Field. Occidental starter Josh Cohen pitched well on the mound, striking out eight batters and giving up just one earned run, with one walk, in 6 innings pitched. He kept his fastball low in the zone and was able to recover after an early error led to Whittier taking the first lead, 1-0 in the top of the second. Oxy's offense exploded in the fourth for nine runs, putting the game well out of reach
For the second day in a row Louisiana College went to work in two wins over Rust at Billy Allgood Field. The Wildcats somewhat lackluster pitching performance in game one led to an 18-12 offensive shootout, but the combination of Hunter Parker and Kalen Parker held Rust to just two hits in a 15-0 shutout victory. The Wildcats finish their stretch of six game in three days as they travel to Loyola (New Orleans) for a Saturday afternoon doubleheader.

Derek Jackson and Ben Brann combined on a one-hit shutout in William Peace's 2-0 win over visiting Guilford at the USA Baseball Complex. Jackson allowed only Mitchell Stumpo's second-inning infield hit and worked out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the sixth inning. He threw into the eighth inning before Brann recorded the final four outs for the lefthander's second save of the season. Christian Dix's two-out, RBI single in the first was one of four William Peace hits. Tyler Tilson singled in the fifth and scored an unearned run on Trey Hogan's double-play ball. Alex Allred and Nathan Holt also had singles for the Pacers.
Trinity (Texas) defeated Whitworth 11-7 with an 11-hit barrage and continued their hot hitting with 15 runs on 19 hits to earn a 15-5 win over Texas-Tyler. Trinity scored in each of the first five innings of the game to take a 9-0 lead, then added six insurance runs in the final two innings to secure the victory over the home standing Patriots.

Kean started things off on the right foot with a 2-1 win over Drew in the season opener for both. In a mixed bag of weather junior Tyler Hopman worked out of early trouble and tossed eight innings allowing just one run with four hits and one walk. He fanned six to improve to 1-0. Rookie Daniel Chiusano faced three batters in the ninth to earn his first collegiate save.
Texas Lutheran completed a three-game, non-conference series sweep of Hardin-Simmons with 9-2 and 9-3 home wins. The Bulldogs pushed their record to 9-0, the best season start since 2007, with the win Thursday and the two wins Friday over the Cowboys. HSU dropped to 1-5 overall. At Katt-Isbel Field, the Bulldogs opened big leads by middle innings in both contests to secure the victories. In the two wins, TLU senior second baseman Ben Mervin drove in three runs and went a combined 4-for-5 with two runs scored and one stolen base. Marvin had a pair of doubles in the first game and two singles in the late game.
Behind the solid pitching performance out of starter Luke Summers, Fontbonne picked up a 3-1 win in its season opener over Belhaven. Summers, a St. Louis, Missouri, native, tossed 6.0 innings, allowing just one run on five hits and struck out a career-high eight. Ryan Howell, meanwhile, followed up with 3.0 innings of shutout ball to collect the save. At the dish, the Griffins, compiled nine hits and were led by Michael Puckett, Jr., going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Jackson Penrod went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the No. 3 slot in the order.
The Leopards rallied for three runs in the fifth inning and La Verne took down defending NCAA DIII National Champions and No. 2 Cal Lutheran 5-3 in their SCIAC opener. Adam Santa Cruz led La Verne with three hits and two RBI. Mauricio Guadarrama added a pair of hits and a run scored.
No. 7-ranked Birmingham-Southern split a doubleheader against Piedmont. The Panthers dropped the first game before regrouping to pick up the win in game two. Two tough innings doomed BSC in game one as they gave up five runs in the second and fourth innings, putting them in a hole they were unable to climb out of. loding 12-3. In game two, the Panthers defeated the Lions 7-6.
Millsaps won their third consecutive game on Friday as the Majors took down #10 LaGrange 7-5 at Twenty Field. The win improves the Millsaps record to 3-2 on the season. LaGrange falls to 5-4. In the middle innings, tied 5-5, the two squads really settled in to a pitching duel. Conner Haynes was called on out of the bullpen, and turned in a magnificent outing for the Majors. His final line showed 3.1 innings pitched, no hits allowed, just one walk and three strikeouts. Millsaps finally broke through for the final time in the bottom of the 8th inning with two runs for the winning margin.
