Tyler Comport and Calen Reigner combined on a no-hitter in the Penn State Berks baseball teams 7-0 win over Ursinus College in the first game of a doubleheader. Ursinus salvaged a split by defeating the Nittany Lions, 7-1, in game two.

Berks moves to 5-4 on the season, while the Bears are now 2-7 overall.

Comport set the batters down in order in the first inning and worked around a two-out walk in the second. The senior right-hander ran into some trouble in the third after hitting the leadoff batter and walking the next hitter. Comport struck out the next batter and Damian Mace threw out the leader runner trying to steal third base for out two. Comport got out of the inning with a fly out to Austin Madeja in right field. After a 1-2-3 fourth inning, Comport allowed one baserunner in both the fifth and sixth via walk. He finished the day with five strikeouts and six walks in six innings of work.

Reigner came on in relief for the seventh inning after Comport's pitch count went up. The leadoff batter reached on an error, before Reigner forced a pop up to second base for the first out. He caught the next batter looking for out two, followed by a groundout to Brandon Griesemer at first to record the no-no.

The offense got going with three runs in the bottom of the first and three more in third. Toby Welk went 2-for-2 with one double, one triple, one stolen base, one RBI, one run scored, and drew two walks. Madeja had a career-high three hits, while matching his previous best with three runs batted in. Mason Pennypacker was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Cory Fox had a double, one RBI, and score one run. Griesemer scored twice and had two stolen bases.

In the second game, Ursinus put up a run in each of the first two innings to go up 2-0. Berks got one run back in the bottom of the third, but the Bears answered with a run in the fourth and tacked on three more in the sixth to build a 6-1 lead.

Dante Salerno went 2-for-3 and Eric Gale was 1-for-2. Fox had two walks, one stolen base, and scored a run.

Sean Pavlik scattered three hits and allowed two runs (one earned), while striking out three batters in three innings. Jon Davis had a pair of strike outs in 2.2 innings and Mitch Amenta had one punchout in 1.1 innings of work.

David Drea went the distance for Ursinus, scattering six hits, allowing one run and striking out six batters. Dom Fiorentino finished 2-for-5 with one double, three RBI, and one run scored to lead the offense.

Berks returns to action with a home game against Penn State Harrisburg on Monday, March 19 at 3:30 p.m.
