| Emerson held on to capture its first win of 2018 as the Lions topped Muhlenberg, 7-5. The second game of the day was decided in the eighth inning where freshman Ryan McCahan played the hero as his first hit counted as the game-winning RBI in a 4-3 win to complete the sweep over the Mules on Tuesday afternoon. UW-La Crosse and St. Thomas opened their 2018 season Tuesday with a scheduled doubleheader in U.S. Bank Stadium. UW-La Crosse won the opener 2-0, stranding seven Tommies on base and limited the hitters to just three hits. Junior Mason McMahon started for La Crosse and worked 4 1-3 innings for the victory. He allowed three hits and two walks and struck out 10. Junior Caleb Willems got the final eight outs for the save. Game two was halted by the stadium time limit in the top of the fifth inning with St. Thomas leading 2-1. The teams likely will attempt to finish the seven-inning game at a later date.

A six run ninth inning after taking a 5-4 lead in the eighth secured Thiel's first victory of the season, 11-4 over Hiram. Thiel trailed the entire game until the eighth inning as Zach Hudecek doubled to left center field to score Anthony Sebastian to make it 5-4. The Tomcats would add six runs in the ninth to salt the game away.
The freshly-minted 22nd-ranked Christopher Newport Captains picked up its 10th win of the season, dropping Bridgewater (Va.) on a neutral field in Myrtle Beach, S.C., 11-1. Senior Logan Harrelson struck out nine batters in 5.0 innings to pick up the win while Brandon Ginch and Nicholas Baham each blasted home runs for the offense. Harrelson continued his red hot start to the season with five clean frames against the Eagles, allowing just three hits while continuing to limit free passes with only one hit-by-pitch and no walks.

Martin Luther ended its annual Florida trip on a high note with a pair of wins over Penn State-Brandywine by the scores of 5-3 and 12-0. Dillon Solomon earned the game pone win with a complete game effort, allowing three runs on six hits and four walks while striking out three in seven innings of work. The Knights finished off the sweep with a 12-0 game-two win in five innings.
Misericordia played just one game in Florida today, but scored enough for the entire week, routing Immaculata, 25-4, in Fort Pierce, Florida. The Cougars had 25 hits off the Mighty Macs pitching staff en route to scoring their most runs since a 29-0 win over Martin Luther in 2015. Sean Lyons went 3-5 with two runs batted in and two runs scored. Including Lyons, nine players had multiple hits for the Cougars and six players had two RBIs, including Dalton Emerich who came off the bench and had two doubles.
Penn State Abington kept King's winless in a high scoring affair, 15-12, at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale, Florida. The teams combined for 27 runs and 36 hits. The Monarchs drop to 0-4 on the season while the Lions improve to 3-5.
Stevenson did not let the impending darkness and intermittent snow flurries stop them from posting five runs in the seventh to defeat Gettysburg by a final of 8-7 in seven innings at Sugar Field. Stevenson senior John D'Aquanno had a strong offensive output going 3-for-4, including a double with three runs batted in, and a run scored. Classmate Billy Small was 2-for-4, knocking in a run. The group of sophomores Kevin Murray Jr., Jacob Norris, and Brady Kessler, as well as junior Matthew Kerber, accounted for four hits and five runs scored.
Hood scored double-digit runs for the third consecutive game to improve to 8-0 with a 15-2 win over Dickinson. Cam Esposito continued his strong play, going 3 for 6 with four runs batted in. The senior was just a home run short of the cycle. Nathan Kessler went 3 for 4 with three runs scored, three RBIs and two stolen bases.
St. John Fisher got back on track as the Cardinals earned a 10-6 win over Saint Joseph's (Maine) as part of the RussMatt Tournament at Chain of Lakes Park. AJ Kuruts earned his first-career win as the freshman tossed 6.0 innings and allowed just two runs on seven hits with five strikeouts. Alec Teska pitched the seventh inning and surrendered two runs on three hits while Klye Chambers gave up one run on three hits in the eighth with two strikeouts. Dillan Wilkinson pitched the ninth inning and yielded one run on one hit. Overall, Fisher collected 12 hits led by Ryan Fahy who went 3-for-5 at the dish with a double, three RBI and a run scored.

Arcadia bested No. 25 Rowan by a score of 10-5. The Knights chalked up four runs through the first four innings, before exploding for six in the top of the seventh. Arcadia plated 10 runs on nine hits and took advantage of five Prof errors. Bryan Gillen led the way at the dish with a 3-5 outing with two doubles and two runs scored.
Junior right-hander Bryan Crawford tossed a complete game and Chatham tallied 12 hits in a 6-1 victory over PSU Greater Allegheny. Crawford went all seven frames, scattering six hits while fanning two, needing just 87 pitches to finish the outing. Chatham improves to 2-3 while PSU Greater Allegheny falls to 0-2.
St. John's recorded two more wins in a pair of nine-inning games against different opponents in Ft. Myers, Fla. SJU started the day with a narrow 2-1 win over Alvernia and followed that with a 13-1 victory over Pitt-Bradford.
Junior Steven Gallagher and sophomore David Larson combined to slug five home runs while senior Matt Howard collected three hits in both ends of WPI's doubleheader sweep of Gwynedd Mercy and DeSales at the RussMatt Invitational. WPI defeated the Griffins 14-10 and the Bulldogs 11-8. The Pennsylvania-based teams agreed to forgo facing each other to help the Engineers make up for the delayed start to the trip.
Dominican edged Penn State Behrend 3-2. After evening the score at 2-all in the top of the ninth, a couple of errors in the bottom of the ninth from the Lions allowed the Stars to score the go-ahead run to end the game.
No. 21 Wheaton (Mass.) defeated Nichols 16-2 in non-league action at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, Mass. Wheaton sophomore Nick Raposo went 2-for-4 with four RBI and a run scored to lead the Lyons. Junior Jimmy Gianquitti went 2-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored, while sophomore Bryant Salkind went 2-for-5 with three RBI. Senior Dan Southerland struck out seven while allowing only two hits in over five innings to earn the win.
Freshmen Tylor Arruda and Mike Doherty combined to allow one run over eight innings in their collegiate debuts, to lead No. 1 UMass Boston past MIT 6-3. Arruda ended his first start with a final line of four hits, one walk, one run over five innings of work, to go along with five strikeouts. Doherty also made his debut as he made a relief appearance in the top of the sixth. He pitched through the eighth inning and didn't allow a run. He finished with strikeouts and two hits allowed in three innings.
In its season opener, UMass Dartmouth scored early and often to get their first win of the year as the Corsairs' bullpen silenced Worcester State, 10-2, at the New England Baseball Complex. The Corsairs had 12 hits which five went for extra bases, including a two-run home run by senior Mac Curran.
Penn State Altoona grabbed the first win of its 2018 Florida trip while also taking a loss, as the Lions defeated John Carroll 13-11 before falling 22-6 to Trine at Chain of Lakes Park Stadium. Against John Carroll, Penn State Altoona used a steady effort at the plate to grind out the victory. In the loss to Trine, the Lions fell apart late in the game. The Thunder scored all 22 of their runs without hitting a home run and three players ended the day with multi-hit games, including a pair with four hits. Sophomore Nick Ricci had three hits in five at-bats and finished with six RBI to go along with three runs scored. Junior Jacob Heller went four-of-five at the plate and scored five runs. Fellow junior Zachary Schulte also had four hits in seven attempts and scored three runs in addition to a RBI.
