No. 25 Rowan defeated top ranked UMass Boston, 10-4 at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational on Sunday night. It was the third win in a row for the Profs and the first loss of the season for the Beacons. Both teams are 6-1 overall. Right-hander Danny Serreino tossed five innings for the win (1-0). He allowed two runs on four hits and struck out six. Righty Ben Gottesman suffered the loss (1-1). Left fielder Monny Strickland went three-for-five at the plate with a double, three RBIs and one run. First baseman Anthony Harrold and third baseman Justin Provost each recorded two hits (four at bats), two RBIs and one run scored. Second baseman Alex Kokos (so. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley), shortstop Dillon Mendel, catcher Zach Leach and Provost had one double apiece.

Matthew Young threw Whitworth's first complete game of the season and led the Pirates to a 7-1 win over visiting No. 18 George Fox, completing a three-game NWC sweep at Merkel Field. Whitworth improved to 10-7 overall and 5-1 in the NWC, taking over the top spot in the league standings. The 18th-ranked Bruins fell to 14-6, 8-4. The Bucs outscored GFU 24-4 in the three-game series. Young completely dominated an offense that came into the weekend leading the NWC in batting average, runs scored, RBIs, extra base hits and slugging. Young (3-2) tossed a three-hitter while striking out six batters and walking none.
With a combined two-hitter from the Beacons pitching staff, top-ranked UMass Boston downed RIT by the final of 9-2 Sunday afternoon at Lake Myrtle Sports Complex. The top-ranked Beacons had a no-hitter going through the eighth inning, when RIT's Jason Schulz hit a two-run homer to end the bid. Despite losing the no-no, the Beacons pitching staff had their best overall performance of the year against the Tigers. The trio of pitchers combined for 10 K's and were led by junior lefty JT Morin, who made his return to the mound after missing the entire 2017 campaign. Morin went the first four innings and had six strikeouts in his first game since May 21 when the Beacons faced Kean in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament.
Great pitching led seventh-ranked Trinity (Texas) to strong 9-0 win over Milikin. Tiger pitchers James Nittoli, Jeff Lonnecker, and Kevin Flores combined for the shutout and took a no-hitter into the ninth inning. Millikin opened the ninth with a base hit to break up the no-hit bid, but Flores was able to preserve the shutout with a game-ending strikeout.

Freshman Sam Troiano delivered the winning run with a single in the top of the ninth inning to give No. 10 Southern Maine a come-from-behind, 3-2 victory over No. 24 Salve Regina at Lake Myrtle Park #4. Tied 2-2 going into the top of the ninth, the Huskies got a leadoff single from sophomore Dylan Hapworth, a sacrifice bunt from junior Zach Quintal and an intentional walk to junior Jake Dexter to set the stage for Troiano. The rookie outfielder, converting to third base, stroked a single to center field to deliver Hapworth with the go-ahead run. Dexter came on to pitch a scoreless bottom of the ninth to earn his first save of the season, and the 14th of his career.
Dante Dalesandro played the hero role in both games of a nonconference doubleheader with La Roche, notching two walk-off hits to propel No. 3 Washington & Jefferson to 8-7 and 1-0 wins. Dalesandro's first walk-off hit came in the bottom of the seventh inning of game one with the score tied 7-7, two outs and runners on first and second when he lined a 3-1 pitch up the middle into the center field. Joey Bolick, who entered as a pinch runner after Mark Merlino walked, raced home to beat the throw and give the Presidents the 8-7 victory. In game two, both teams were deadlocked in a pitcher's duel as the seven-inning regulation game ran into the bottom of the tenth scoreless. James Artale led the frame off with a double to right-center field on a 3-1 count to give the Presidents a runner in scoring position with nobody out. The next hitter was Dalesandro who stepped up to the plate and fouled off a couple pitches before lining the 2-2 offering past the outstretched arm of the La Roche second baseman and into right field. Artale raced around third base and slid home safely to narrowly beat the throw and score the winning run. Dalesandro finished the day hitting 2-for-6 over the two games, with both hits being the game-winners, in addition to walking once, scoring once and adding a couple defensive highlights as well to keep both games close.
Freshman Ambrose Consol hit his first collegiate home run and junior Charlie Ruegger struck out seven as Stevens won its third straight game with a 5-4, come-from-behind victory over No. 12 Johns Hopkins to open the program's annual Spring Break Trip. Freshman Nathan Zuckerman had a pair of hits, including a two-run single and sophomore Patrick Rood scored twice for the Ducks, who moved to 4-4 on the year. Tim Kutcher had three hits and Mike Eberle drove in two for the Blue Jays, who fell to 4-4. Stevens improved to 4-0 all-time against Johns Hopkins, including wins in each of the last two seasons. The teams renewed their series in 2017 after not having met since 1936.

Behind strong pitching from a trio of Lakers, No. 11 Oswego State rallied for an 8-3 nine-inning victory over Wartburg at Polk State College's Bing Tyus Yard. The pivotal inning for the Lakers was the eighth when they turned a 3-2 deficit into a 6-3 lead. Senior Zach Whelan started things off with a leadoff single and moved to third when Kevin Hylas followed with a single of his own. Brandon Nicholson flied out to right to plate Whelan and advance Hylas to second. Mike Dellicarri walked and Hylas advanced to third on a wild pitch before centerfielder John Barnes deliver a towering double to left center that scored the go-ahead runs. Senior Eli Holton doubled in the next at-bat to plate Barnes and add some breathing room for the Lakers' pitching staff.
No. 21 Wheaton (Mass.) and Beloit split a two game set with the Buccaneers wining the opener 8-3 and the Lyons prevailing 5-1 in the nightcap. In game one, the Buccaneers responded with a huge sixth inning that saw six runners cross home, earning Beloit their first win of the season. In game two Wheaton fell behind early, but rallied back in the fifth inning with five runs. First-year Patrick Arter picked up the first win of his career after getting the start for Wheaton. The righty pitched six innings, giving up just one run on three hits, while striking out five and walking one. Jimmy Gowen came in to finsh the game, striking out one of the three batters he faced.
California Lutheran junior Cheynne Giles had a game-high four RBIs and sophomore Christian Slattery pitched a two-inning save as the Kingsmen knocked off the Centenary Gents 11-10 at Ullman Stadium. This is the second straight time the Kingsmen have defeated the Gents. The last time the teams played was last year at the NCAA West Regional in Tyler, Texas. CLU won 8-2 and then went on to win the National Championship. Giles' four RBIs tied a career-high. Slattery pitched the two innings and struck out three batters as he picked up his third save of the year.
