Seventh-ranked College of Wooster packed a punch offensively and walked the tight rope from a defensive and pitching standpoint, but in the end, the Fighting Scots got the job done and downed DePauw 11-10 to complete the sweep of the season-opening North Coast Athletic Conference series at Art Murray Field on Saturday. Senior Drew Tornow led the charge with a 4-for-5 game with three RBI and two runs scored. The right fielder also tracked down a tough fly ball near the line to end the game after DePauw (2-12) loaded the bases in the top of the ninth inning.
No. 24 Shenandoah University completed an undefeated week with a 13-6 ODAC victory over Guilford College. Shenandoah (14-6, 5-3 ODAC) erased a four-run deficit with a seven-run fourth versus the Quakers (10-12-1, 1-7). SU sent 11 men to the plate with Grant Thompson hitting a two-run home run, Keegan Woolford a three-run double and Jaime Naill a two-run single. Naill's single to center drove in the winning run. Coach Kevin Anderson's club pulled away with three more in the fifth, two in the seventh and one in the eighth.
Case Western Reserve junior second baseman homered in each game of a doubleheader, helping to lead the 13th-ranked Spartans to wins of 12-6 and 4-3 over Emory at Nobby's Ballpark in Cleveland, Ohio. The two wins raised the Spartans' record to 15-3 on the year, including a 2-1 mark in the UAA. Emory dropped to 10-12 with a 1-2 UAA ledger. Maue has now homered in all three games of the series, and has hit in 14-consecutive games overall. After going four-for-nine with two home runs, two doubles, three runs scored and two RBIs over the two games, the second baseman is now hitting .431 for the season with eight home runs, 26 runs scored and 20 runs batted in. With more than half the season still remaining, he sits just one home run shy of the school's single-season record, set by Steve Rosiek during the 1986 season.
No. 17 TCNJ took two from Rutgers-Newark in the NJAC opener for both teams. The Lions were able to take the opener 12-0, leading wire-to-wire . The Lions pulled away late, tacking on three runs in the eighth and four in the ninth for the final margin, finishing the game with 18 hits. TCNJ were able to break a 3-3 tie in game two with four runs in the fourth inning as the Lion bullpen was able to keep Rutgers-Newark off the board the rest of the way.
Mike Harrington and Jake Casey each turned in solid starting pitching performances as Cortland swept visiting Oneonta, 11-1 and 5-2, in a SUNYAC doubleheader at Wallace Field. Cortland, ranked 14th nationally in Division III, improved to 16-6 overall with its eighth straight win and is in first place in the conference with an 8-1 mark. Oneonta dropped to 7-13 overall and 3-5 in league action. Harrington improved to 4-0 with six innings of four-hit ball in the seven-inning opener. He struck out five, did not walk anyone, and gave up one run. Casey won the nine-inning second game to up his record to 3-1. He gave up three hits, two walks and two runs and fanned five in six and a third innings.
Mount Union swept #18 Baldwin Wallace in an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader with scores of 5-3 and 4-1 at Bob Fisher Field in Berea. Christian Stanziano had a big day for the Raiders as he got the game-winning RBI's on a single in the 10th inning in game one and went 4-for-9 with three runs batted in on the day. Stanziano extended his hit streak to 17 games dating back to last year which is just one off of the school record.

Junior Colin Selby fanned a career-high 14 in seven innings in the opener and junior Nick Roth did not allow an earned run in seven innings in the nightcap with eight punchouts as the 10th-ranked Randolph-Macon baseball team swept an ODAC doubleheader at Washington and Lee. The Yellow Jackets (16-3-1, 8-1 ODAC) won the first game 10-5 before taking the nightcap 8-1 over the Generals (9-16, 2-9 ODAC). Selby (5-1) scattered seven hits and allowed two runs (one earned) with two walks. His strikeout total of 14 was three away from the program record of 17, set by Hall-of-Famer Travis Beazley. Roth (5-0) allowed seven hits and one unearned run in Game 2 with no walks and eight strikeouts.
Rowan began NJAC play by splitting a doubleheader at Ramapo. The Profs (15-2) had their 11-game win streak snapped with a 6-2 loss in the opener but came back for a 5-3 victory in the nightcap. The Roadrunners are 14-7 overall. Rowan third baseman Justin Provost went three-for-six with two doubles, one RBI and two runs on the day. For Ramapo, first baseman Connor Walsh produced three hits (seven at bats), one double and two runs.
No. 22 La Roche opened AMCC Conference play with a double-header sweep over Penn State Behrend. The Redhawks took Game One 9-3 and Game Two 12-7. Joe Professori hit a grand slam and Jay Novak belted his first career home run.
Powered by an impressive bullpen effort and a power surge from the heart of the Christopher Newport order, nationally-ranked CNU ran it's win streak to 14 with a pair of Capital Athletic Conference wins at York. Reliever Brian Owens (3-0) won both games out of the pen after Brandon Ginch, Nicholas Baham, and Seth Woodard each blasted a pair of home runs in the twin bill. CNU won, 13-8, in game one and 8-6, in game two. Both wins would be late-inning comeback victories for the Captains, who improved to 22-4 overall, 6-0 in league play. The Captains win streak is the second longest in program history, behind only a 26-game roll in 2011, and is currently the second longest active streak in Division III. With the two losses, York's overall record falls even to 8-8-1 with a 1-2 CAC mark.
Oswego State defeated the Hawks of SUNY New Paltz by a score of 6-4 on Saturday to complete the three-game sweep. With the win, the Lakers improve to 11-5 (5-1 SUNYAC) while New Paltz falls to 7-9 (0-3). Ed Holton and Mike Dellicarri both went 2-for-3 on the day to lead the Lakers. For the third-straight game, the starting pitching for Oswego was untouched by the opponents. Brian Nolan (3-1) went six innings and struck out four New Paltz batters without yielding any runs. The starting trio of Nolan, Donnelly, and Reston Pettit threw 20 innings in the series without allowing a run to score.
The history between Concordia Chicago and Edgewood College has resulted in some memorable games, and it's no surprise that today's doubleheader in River Forest added two more to the list. Some early morning rain, combined with gusting winds and fluctuating temperatures, made it anybody's guess how today's Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference opening twinbill would play out. In the end, the Cougars resulted to their old tactic of answering an opponent's scoring rally with one of their own that made the difference in a CUC sweep by scores of 13-10 and 7-6. The Cougars provided offense from every position except shortstop with the offensive punch in game one from the middle of the order and from the top of the order in game two.
No. 15 Redlands headed to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Saturday to continue the SCIAC series against the Stags. Behind solid pitching, the Bulldogs got ahead and stayed ahead to take the first game by a score of 7-3. Unfortunately, a big third inning in game two for the Stags was too much for Redlands to overcome for its first loss in eight games. Adam Stead ended the game with nine strikeouts, while Rainier Aguilar impressed at the plate by going 4-for-4 with a double and three RBI.

Roanoke took their winning streak to 15 games as the Maroons swept Hampden-Sydney to remain perfect in the ODAC season. Will Salva drove in four runs as Roanoke topped Hampden-Sydney 11-4 in the opening game of the ODAC doubleheader, Eight different Maroons recorded hits, headed by Will Merriken with four, as the Maroons won game two 9-3.
A four-run seventh inning propelled No. 8 Methodist to an 8-5 win against Greensboro at Armstrong-Shelley Field. The victory moves the Monarchs to 22-6 on the season behind an 11-3 mark in league play. Meanwhile, the Pride fall to 11-15 overall and 7-8 in conference games. Seth Beard (ND) pitched 4.2 innings and surrendered four runs (3 ER) on four hits with four strikeouts in the start. Kevin Williams tossed 3.1 scoreless innings and allowed just two hits to pick up his second win in as many appearances. Will Walker also pitched a scoreless inning as he pitched the ninth frame.
Will Carey came on in relief and tossed four solid innings allowing just one hit as he gave Susquehanna a chance to come back and the River Hawks responded with two runs in the sixth and a run in the seventh to post a 7-5 victory over Catholic Saturday afternoon in the second game of a Landmark Conference doubleheader to complete the three-game conference series. Susquehanna (5-12) won the first game of the series Friday and earned a split of the Saturday doubleheader as Catholic (15-5) won the first game Saturday with an 8-3 victory before the River Hawks with the night cap 7-5.
Salisbury earned two important Capital Athletic Conference victories over No. 11 Frostburg State at Sea Gull Baseball Stadium on Saturday afternoon, 14-4 and 12-5. Starting Pitcher Austin Heenan was no match for his opponents, tallying 10 strikeouts over seven innings to pick up his fourth win of the season. Starting pitcher Connor Reeves also had an impressive day on the mound for the Sea Gulls, tossing 5 2/3 innings while striking out 11 Bobcats for his sixth win of the season. Reeves' six wins currently leads the CAC.
