Visiting Washington College scored five times in the top of the ninth inning, highlighted by the go ahead two-out, two-run base hit by senior Aaron Barclay to turn a 7-5 deficit into a 10-7 lead and that would be the final over host #20 Salisbury in a non-conference baseball game on Wednesday afternoon at SU Baseball Field. The Shoremen, who downed the Sea Gulls for the first time in program history improve to 3-0 on the year, while the Sea Gulls drop to 3-2-1.
Fontbonne (6-0) closed out the month of February unbeaten after defeating WashU, 6-5. Tied in the ninth, Jonathon Hoevelmann led off with a single. After stealing second and advancing to third on a WashU error, he was able to score on Braeden Dobbs' sacrifice-fly. Tyler Heitmann came on in the ninth and secured his first save on the year. Mike Jacobson improve to 2-0 on the year as he went 3.1 innings out of the pen, allowing two runs (one earned) and striking out three.
Methodist dismantled the visiting Guilford Quakers, 17-4, behind a flurry of extra-base hits in non-conference action. Matthias Carter led the Monarchs at the plate with four hits, including a triple, in five at-bats and Alex Kachler and Jacob Austin each hit a home run in the win. Methodist set an early-season-high with seven extra base hits in the contest.
Freshman Josh Barker scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Augustana a 5-4 win over Neumann at Chain of Lakes Park. With the game tied at 4-4 going to the bottom of the ninth, Will Troia led off as a pinch-hitter and was hit by a Nick Glebocki offering. Barker came in to run for him. A walk to Nick Mosele and a Drew Davis sacrifice put runners at second and third and Tyler Nunez was walked intentionally to load the bases. With Gunnar Haskins at the plate, Glebocki's 0-1 pitch got away, allowing Barker to race home with the game-winner.
Rose-Hulman improved to 3-0 on its Spring trip with a 6-5 come-from-behind victory over Capital at Lake Myrtle Park. Rose-Hulman jumped out to a 4-0 lead with a four-run second inning. Capital answered with a five-run sixth-inning rally to take a 5-4 advantage. Rose-Hulman relied on timely hitting to score the game's final two runs in the seventh inning. David Burnside hit a one-out double and was still on second when Zach Witonsky came up as a pinch hitter with two outs. Witonsky provided a clutch double to tie the score at 5-5. The next hitter, Conner Helbling, added another double to score pinch-runner Shaine Mitchell for the eventual winning run.
Junior Matthew Spagnolo hit a game-winning grand slam home run in the top of the 12th inning to lead Hampden-Sydney to a 7-3 non-conference road win at Marymount at the Nationals Youth Academy in Washington, D.C. Juniors Andrew Kasiski and Jonathan Triesler each had two hits for the visiting Tigers (3-3), while sophomore Ryan Clawson gained the pitching victory in relief against the host Saints (1-4). H-SC had seven runs on eight hits … scoring one run in the first inning, one run in the third, one run in the fifth and four runs in the 12th for the thrilling victory. The Tigers trailed 2-1 after one, tied it at 2-2 in the third, before each team scored in the fifth to make it 3-3, a score that stood until the third extra inning.
Centre escaped Gary Wright Field with a thrilling 11-10 victory over visiting Spalding, winning its fifth game in a row. Centre's staff totaled 12 strikeouts, as Schacht, Holloway and Jordan Gunter had three apiece. The five Colonel relievers allowed just four hits in the final 6.2 innings. Drew Schacht came in and pitched the final two innings, and the program's career saves leader added another with three strikeouts to slam the door on Spalding.

Calvin opened its 2019 season with a doubleheader split against Anderson at Grand Park. Calvin used a strong comeback to win the opener 12-6 and then lost a hard-fought 5-2 contest in game two. The game one win handed first-year head coach Kevin Van Duyn his initial victory as a collegiate head coach although it came in his absence as he remained in West Michigan with the flu.
Illinois Wesleyan opened its 2019 season with a pair of wins, defeating Greenville by scores of 6-3 and 12-2 in games played at the O'Fallon (Ill.) Family Sports Park. In game one, IWU scored three in the sixth inning and added one run in the seventh and two in the ninth. Junior second baseman Jeran Simpson cracked a home run and had two runs batted in while junior first baseman Garrett Shea had a double with a run batted in and senior third baseman Stephen Billington and junior ceterfielder Nick Figus each rapped doubles. The Titans had seven extra base hits among their 17 hits in the nightcap. Figus had four hits with two triples while junior shortstop Brandon Skopick added three hits. Senior catcher Seth Palmby had two hits with a two-run double and Shea also had two hits in the win.
Alma defeated Northern Vermont-Lyndon by a score of 5-0 at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. Freshman Trevor Wregglesworth pitched a complete game shutout in his first career appearance at the collegiate level. This was game one of a scheduled doubleheader. In game two, the Scots were leading 12-3 in the top of the fifth when the game was suspended due to rain.
Immaculata racked up 16 runs on 15 hits to pace Delaware Valley in a non-conference slugfest to pick up its first win of the 2019 season, 16-11. The Mighty Mac bats were in sync from the first pitch, plating nine runs in the first three innings as five Macs finished with multi-hit days led by three each from Cameron Delisle, Richard Fontanillas and Corey Pezak. Delisle led the Macs with four runs scored in the effort, while Pezak picked up his first collegiate hits with a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate with a pair of runs driven in. Billy Manzo picked up his first win of the season on the mound with two and two-thirds innings of work and three strikeouts. Gabe Hollenbach, Brady Fidler and Zach Smiley each provided scoreless innings of relief to close out the victory.
