Teams put up a crooked number on Thursday

at the RussMatt Invitational, with a 15-13 victory over
UW-La Crosse on Thurs afternoon at Chain of Lakes Park.
The Lions had 21 hits, and the teams combined for 38.

New York University scored a program record 30 runs as they rallied from behind to defeat the Illinois Tech 30-19 on Thursday, March 21, in Tampa, FL. NYU (10-2) trailed 15-11 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, but scored 15 runs in the frame to take control of the game and defeat Illinois Tech (3-5) for the second time this week. The Violets' 30 runs came on 24 hits with eight different NYU players collecting at least two hits. Leading the way offensively for the Violets was Colman Hendershot, who finished the afternoon 4-for-5 with five RBIs and five runs scored. The senior captain hit his second home run of the season in the game to go along with a double and a pair of singles. Ryan Mclaughlin tallied three hits in the win and came around to score three runs.

Junior Keegan Phillips went 4-for-4 and drove in seven runs in the first game as the Gators won 22-2, before dropping an 8-6 decision in the night cap against Grinnell at Kino Sports Complex. Phillips had three, two-run singles and an RBI double in the opener, plus scored three runs and stole a pair of bags before going 2-for-4 with a run scored in game two. Over the last three games, Phillips is 9-for-11 with 10 RBI, two doubles and six runs. In the first game, the Gators pounded out 23 hits as five others joined Phillips with multiple hits.

McDaniel plated eight runs in the bottom of the first inning and cruised to a 17-1 victory over D'Youville in seven innings at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.  TJ McGuire led the Green Terror with a 4-for-4 day at the plate, adding three RBIs and two runs scored.  Naquan Holden added a 3-for-3 afternoonw with three RBIs.

Junior Jon Pressley had four hits while seniors Will Stephens and Jake Behne each added three hits as Coast Guard had a season-high 20 hits in a 17-3 win over Becker in a non-conference game. Pressley was 4 for 5 with two RBI's, Stephens scored four runs while Behne hit his first career homer, a three-run shot in the 8th, scored three runs and drove in four in the win for Coast Guard. Freshmen Nolan Johnson and Cody Fidler each added two hits and an RBI for the Bears.

Wesleyan (4-7) cruised past Macalester (3-3) 16-9. The Cardinals will play their final game of spring break on Friday at noon against Hamline. Andrew Kauf went 4-5 with a double and four RBI, while Alex Cappitelli was 3-4 with three RBI and a double. Jamie Mills went 3-4 with two RBI, while Nick Valicenti had two RBI.

Ferrum picked up a non-conference win this afternoon at home over SUNY Brockport, winning 16-3 at Panther Field. The Panthers used a big seventh inning to break the game open. Ferrum scored 10 runs in the seventh inning, including Parker Mason's two-run homer, and Grey Sherfey's two-RBI triple to right field. Josh Greenway led the Panthers with a 5-for-5 day including two doubles, four runs, two RBIs.

First year Sam Rohrer threw five shutout innings while his teammates collected 15 hits en route to a 15-1 Eph victory over Edgewood. Senior Doug Schaffer went 3 for 5 with 4 RBI in the win as the Ephs improved to 3-0 on their trip to the Sunshine State. Friday, Williams will take on Johns Hopkins at 9 a.m. before battling Bethel (Minn.) at 12 p.m. In the win over Edgewood, the Ephs scored at least one run in six of the first seven frames.

Rutgers-Newark rebounded from a tough loss last night to defeat Framingham State with an explosive offense this afternoon, 12-8. The Scarlet Raiders improve to 3-4 while the Rams fall to 6-5. Rutgers-Newark was led by the top of its order. Ryan Zucker went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs, Dominic Magliaro was 2-for-3 with a walk, three runs, and two RBI, and Luke Magliaro went 2-for-4 with a walk, a run, and an RBI. Kevin Tamsula and Connor Clare each also contributed a pair of RBI.

The 11-10 final score was all that mattered as Cornell hung on for an elusive win over Augustana at Swanson Stadium. The Rams (4-3) beat perennial CCIW contender Augustana (9-3-1) for the first time in seven tries under head coach Seth Wing. Four of the losses were decided by two runs or less. This time it was Cornell prevailing in a three-plus hour game the Rams dominated through seven innings and once led 11-0. The Vikings made it interesting in the end, rallying for eight runs in the eighth to get within 11-10 but Cornell closer Zachary Greenwald retired the Vikings in order in the ninth to save the game for the Rams. John-Michael Osley had a career night at the plate, going 5-for-6 with three runs, two RBIs and a stolen base. He was one hit shy of tying the program's single-game record. Osley raised his season batting average to .550.

Maritime faced off against 3-9 Emerson at Commodore Hendy Field. After struggling to score runs the past week, the Bucs scored 11 to earn an 11-5 victory over the Lions. Maritime went 11-for-34 at the plate, drew eight walks and struck out just 5 times. Matt Langan, Nick Haley and Jackson Simone each had an extra base hit. Alex Schlapak, Simone, Langan and Marley Dembitzki each had multi-hit games for the Bucs.

Southern Maine scored nine runs in the first three innings and cruised to an 11-5 victory over Springfield in a non-conference game at Lake Myrtle Park #1. With their third straight win, the Huskies concluded their seven-game Florida trip with a 6-1 mark and improved to 7-2 overall.  The Pride dropped their third straight game to slide to 3-5 overall. The Huskies banged out 13 hits against four Pride hurlers.  Junior Andrew Hillier had a double and a triple with two RBI to pace the attack.  Senior Jack Sylvia had a pair of doubles and two runs scored, and junior Dylan Hapworth had a double and a single.  Junior Andrew Olszak set the table at the top of the lineup reaching base five times on two singles and three walks.  Seniors Jake Dexter and Devin Warren hit home runs in the game

Robby Faris went a perfect 4-4 at the plate as Johns Hopkins jumped out to a 10-0 lead against Saint Michael's and Blue Jays went onto defeat the Purple Knights, 11-6. The Blue Jays are now 7-1 when scoring first and are 3-1 when scoring 10 or more runs. Faris had a career day at the plate notching  career bests in hits (four), RBI (two) and runs scored (four). Jared deFaria also had a career day as the freshman hit his first collegiate home run and knocked in a career-best four runs in the game.

It was a bittersweet day for the Gallaudet University baseball team here as it swept Southern Vermont College, 9-8 and 9-7, in a non-conference doubleheader at the Lee County Player Development Complex. The wins were the first and last for the Bison against Southern Vermont, who will shut down its school at the end of this semester due to financial hardship. Gallaudet (7-11) entered today's doubleheader 0-4 all-time against the Mountaineers (3-6-1). Shea Sliva Wynne led all Bison with five runs scored and two triples in the doubleheader.

St. Olaf downed Cazenovia, 9-1, and McDaniel, 5-1, in two non-conference contests. St. Olaf (5-2) tallied 15 hits in the game and allowed just three from Cazenovia (1-5), along with two errors committed by the Wildcats. Tommy McDonald was 3-of-4 at bat and posted two runs and two RBI, and Matthew Muller added three hits and three runs for the Oles. Dylan Blake, Sam Stuckmayer and Bobby Isbell each registered two hits, and Stuckmayer added two runs.
