Burdick named interim head coach at Widener

CHESTER, Pa.Kevin Burdick has been named the Interim Head Baseball Coach for the Widener University baseball team as announced by Director of Athletics, Jack Shafer on Monday.

Previously the associate head coach and an assistant coach with the Pride, Burdick is in his sixth season with the program overall.

"We are very lucky to have Kevin already on staff to be able to assume the duties as interim head coach," said Shafer. "His knowledge of the team and familiarity with the program allows us to not miss a beat as we move into this season."

During his tenure, the Pride have been to five conference tournaments and one NCAA regional by capturing the MAC Commonwealth Championship in 2016. Since his arrival in Chester, 23 Widener players have been named All-Conference with six First Team selections.

Coach Burdick began his coaching career with the Mt Carmel Legion program in the Greater Norristown League. In 2013, he helped guide the Mounties to their first league title in 33 years. After his legion coaching career, Coach Burdick entered the college ranks at Division II Regis University in Denver, Colo. as a volunteer assistant coach. His primary focus was coaching mental skills.

Coach Burdick graduated from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla. and is originally from Plymouth Meeting, Pa. where he currently resides today.
