O'Rourke perfect on Saturday

More news about: Berry

After sweeping Millsaps last weekend in Mississippi, Berry baseball returned home for another four-game series vs. the Majors, winning all four games.

Over the weekend, history was made as Patrick O'Rourke (2-0), who got the start in the circle for game two, pitched a perfect game—pitching all seven innings, giving up zero hits, zero runners and zero runs scored. This was the first time in Berry baseball's D3 history that this has been accomplished. The last time this was accomplished was in 1972 by Larry Bing.

Game one saw Ben Coker (5-0) get the start in the circle. He pitched seven innings, struck out 11 batters and only gave up five hits. Will Macolino and Mason Carnes came in for an inning a piece and Carnes recorded his second save.

Offensively, Jack Poist led with three hits of four attempts, scoring two runs and tallying an RBI. Tyler Calvert added two hits and two RBI. The Vikings won 6-3.

Berry took game two 13-0 following O'Rourke's standout performance and 12 hits the offense connected with. Zach Hardee went 3-3 at the plate and tallied two RBI.

Games three and four were an offensive showcase for the Vikings, as they connected with nine hits in game three, winning 11-3, and 23 hits in game four, winning 22-5.

Garrett West (3-1) got the start in game three, pitching five innings and striking out seven batters. Andrew Norred came in for relief in the sixth and struck out two batters, only allowing one run. Spence Johns, Weston Bray and Tyler Calvert each had two hits.

Charles Stephenson got the start in game four, with Milan Sutaria, Tanner Still and Brady Drummond each got a shot against the Majors, with Still (1-0) earning the win. John D'Amelio and Wesley Wade each had three hits with Zack Walch, Tyler Calvert and Dalton Smith each adding two.
