IRVING, Texas - No. 2 Trinity University Baseball posted a doubleheader sweep of the University of Dallas Sunday afternoon in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play through a dominant 16-1 game one before an extra-innings, 7-5 bout to close the night.

The Tigers (22-3, 10-1 SCAC) notched a combined no-hitter in the dominant first-game performance through the work of first-year starter Harrison Durow (Dallas, Texas / Lovejoy) and sophomore reliever Samuel Conte (Boston, Mass. / Phillips Academy) to collect the former's third mound of victory of the 2021 campaign. Junior catcher Tyler Pettit (Round Rock, Texas / Round Rock) notched seven RBI in Sunday's opener with a pair of home runs and a two-RBI base-hit.

The competitive second contest was won by junior shortstop Jack Wisniewski (San Antonio, Texas / Antonian) who powered the Tiger offense with four RBI, the most important of which came to break the tie in the top of the 10th frame to score senior rightfielder Rafe Chaumette (Sugar Land, Texas / Clement). Senior reliever Matthew Thomas (Scottsdale, Ariz. / Horizon) nabbed his first victory from the mound on the year with 5.2 innings of work to accompany his team-leading four saves.

The second-ranked Tigers face Texas Lutheran for a one-off non-conference battle Tuesday before hosting No. 18 Centenary College for a three-game SCAC series next weekend.

Game One: Trinity 16, Dallas 1

Trinity opened Sunday's conference action with a pair of three-run frames powered by a three-run bomb from sophomore Brian Schaub (Hatfield, Pa. / LeSalle) and Pettit's two-run shot, the first of two home runs in the game for the junior catcher.

The Crusaders managed their hitless score in the bottom of the opening stanza on a sacrifice fly that scored Dallas's Vondrachek after he reached base on a walk and stole second to eventually put himself in position.

With the doubleheader-opener in control, Durow eased through the Crusader lineup as he tallied six strikeouts to just three walks over six innings without allowing a base-hit.

Tigers crossed the plate nine times between the fifth and sixth innings. Five of the RBI came from the bat off Pettit as all three runs in the fifth came on his second longball along with a two-RBI knock into right-centerfield. Wisniewski notched the fourth of Trinity's five multi-RBI hits of game one during this stretch with a single into centerfield.

Conte entered to finish off the Crusaders, and the team no-hitter with a clean seventh frame prior to the run-rule conclusion.

Game Two: Trinity 7, Dallas 5

The Tigers opened Sunday's B-side with a 2-0 lead on a pair of single tallies in the first two innings. Wisniewski got the bats moving with another hit into center, scoring Chaumette who led the game off with a double. Sophomore catcher Cade Momsen (Colleyville, Texas / Colleyville Heritage) notched the second tally on an RBI-groundout to score junior firstbaseman Jack Vonderhaar (Woodinville, Wash. / Redmond).

The Crusaders answered with one-run second and third frames. Wisniewski returned to the plate to initiate a three-run fourth inning in response with yet another base-hit to score Momsen and first-year secondbaseman Colt Harris (Katy, Texas / Houston Christian). Senior centerfielder Mason Meredith (Houston, Texas / Memorial) later plated Chaumette with a sacrfice fly to center.

Senior southpaw James Nittoli (San Antonio, Texas / Alamo Heights) exited with a 5-2 lead in the bottom of the fifth after he received game two's starting nod. With a runner on second at the time, he walked away from Sunday's action with a pair of earned runs on his record after allowing just two base-hits.

Thomas took control on the mound for most of the back half of the outing. The Tiger veteran posted 3.2 scoreless innings in relief before allowing a game-tying inside-the-park homer to lead off the bottom of the ninth, but ended the lengthy 5.2-inning relief appearance with just five baserunners allowed (four hits, one walk) and four strikeouts.

Chamuette led off the extra inning with a stand-up double into left-centerfield for the fourth hit in his four-for-five performance, then was advanced on a sacrifice bunt before Wisniewski pushed him across for his third run of the outing. For additional cushion, first-year utility Ezra Gore (Dallas, Texas / McKinney North) notched a triple to score Wisniewski to hand Thomas his first victory from the mound this season.
