Adrian punches ticket with MIAA win

ADRIAN, Mich. –
The Adrian College baseball team punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament with the MIAA automatic bid. Adrian took the first two games in the best of three series against Hope College with the game two final being 19-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED

= The Bulldogs went off on offense early scoring two runs in the first on a Kevin Cardentey double followed by a five run second inning on hits from Thomas Miller and Brady Wood, and a sacrifice fly from Gunner Rainey.

= Tristin Richardson homered to lead off the third and take an 8-0 lead which was later followed by a 2-RBI double from Wood.

= Wood drove in two more runs with another double in the fourth followed by a Rainey three-run bomb.

= With Adrian leading 16-0 in the fifth, Hope went on to score six unanswered runs to trail 16-6.

= Adrian scored again in the seventh and eighth inning to seal the win at 19-6.

ON THE MOUND

= Gage Ricker threw four innings in the start for the Bulldogs allowing four runs on six hits with three strikeouts.

=Tripp Russo recorded the win in 1.1 innings of work while not allowing a base runner.

= Michael Swanson, Trey Miller, and Elliott Edsall made appearances on the mound during the game.
