DULUTH, Minn. – Kevin Ritsche has resigned as Head Baseball Coach at The College of St. Scholastica, Interim Director of Athletics Merissa Edwards announced.

Ritsche was hired as the program's fourth Head Coach in August of 2019 and led the Saints to a 4-4-1 start in his first season before the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the rest of the season. This past spring, the Saints went 20-9 and finished runner-up in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) both during the regular season and in the tournament.

"I appreciate Kevin's efforts in navigating two very challenging seasons of COVID baseball," said Edwards. "I wish him great success in his future endeavors."

Ritsche, a St. Scholastica grad, came back to CSS after recording over 300 wins in nine seasons as Head Baseball Coach at Winston-Salem State University (N.C.). The Superior, Wisconsin native played for the Saints from 2001-04. In 2004, Ritsche was named an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American and a First Team All-UMAC choice as a catcher.

Plans to fill Ritsche's position will begin immediately.
