BUFFALO, NY – Medaille College Director of Athletics Susan Roarke announced the hiring of Brian Kehew as Head Coach for the Medaille Baseball team on Monday. "We are excited that Brian Kehew will be the new head coach of our baseball team" said Roarke.  "Brian brings a tremendous coaching background as both a head and assistant coach at the collegiate level.  He is a proven recruiter with a strong commitment to developing student-athletes both on the field and in the classroom.  We are looking forward to Brian arriving on campus and continuing the growth of the baseball program under his leadership."

"I was drawn to Medaille College first and foremost by all of the friendly and helpful people who work to provide their students with the optimal learning experience," said Kehew. He joins Medaille following his most recent position at Becker College in Leicester, MA as the Head Coach of the baseball team since July 2018. Prior to Becker, he had a six year run at Salve Regina University in Newport, RI where he worked as an Assistant for the baseball team while also serving as their Recruiting Coordinator and as the Student-Athlete Success Coordinator for the athletic department.

Kehew was instrumental in Salve Regina reigning atop the Commonwealth Coast Conference in 2017 and 2018 and winning the conference tournament in 2016 and 2017. In 2017, the team was nationally ranked as high as #12 and #1 in the New England region while being nationally ranked in multiple offensive and pitching categories. He also helped coach 11 players to be named to the All-New England team and one All-American, having two pitchers in the top-10 in earned-run average in 2017.

"My philosophy revolves around the individual student-athlete. I dedicate myself to each member of my team to ensure they are all growing and learning the skills that will best prepare them for the future," he said.

Previous coaching stops include the Naval Academy Preparatory School where he served as the Head Coach from 2016-2017 and with the Ocean State Waves, a member of the New England Collegiate Baseball League as the Head Coach and Pitching Coach.

"I can't wait to get to campus and have the students return," said Kehew. "I look forward to meeting the team, preparing for the upcoming season, and recruiting to build a strong future for the program." He is also looking forward to building a culture of his own, one where the team will be mentally and physically prepared each day.

"I would like to thank Susan Roarke and the search committee for providing me with this opportunity," said Kehew. "Medaille is a special place, and I could not be more excited to join the family,"

Kehew received his Bachelor's in Sport Administration from the University of Louisville and finished his education at the University of Central Florida where he earned his Master's in Sport and Exercise Science.
