No. 8 Webster University was back in action this afternoon when they played the final game of their three-game series against the Spalding University Golden Eagles. The Gorloks, who were swept in their doubleheader yesterday, were able to bounce back this afternoon and defeat the Golden Eagles by a final score of 9-4

UW-La Crosse earned a tripleheader sweep of Finlandia University Monday at Copeland Park. The Eagles won the opener, 4-2, the second game, 18-0, and the third game, 6-3. All three games were seven innings. UWL improves to 8-4 overall and 4-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference while Finlandia falls to 3-11 overall and 0-4 in the conference. In game one, Finlandia had runners on first and third with one out in the top of the sixth, but UWL's Chris Seveska struck out Jacob Glarner and got the final out on a fielder's choice. The Lions had a one-out single in the seventh, but Seveska retired the next two batters to earn the save. Alex Redman and Tucker Bouche combined on the shutout in the second game. Redman (2-1) earned the victory, going 6.0 innings while allowing four hits and three walks with eight strikeouts. Bouche pitched 1.0 inning, recording two strikeouts. The Lions took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third in the final game of the day but that was erased as the Eagles scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead. Jake Perinovic (1-0) picked up the victory for UWL. He pitched 4.0 innings, allowing six hits, three runs and three walks while striking out seven. Caleb Matl earned his second save, going 3.0 innings with eight strikeouts. Jack Olver went 5-for-10 on the day to lead the Eagles.

Pitching was the headline as UW-Stevens Point (9-2, 1-1) held No. 12 UW-Whitewater (9-4, 1-1) to two runs in a doubleheader split in the league opener on Monday. The Pointers earned the game one win with a 4-0 shutout before falling in game two, 2-0. Caleb Krommenakker pitched 6.0 shutout frames to win game one. Nick Carpenter and Sidney Ferry completed the shutout by blanking the Warhawks over the final three frames. In game two, it was Whitewater's Kade Lancour and Cade Berendt who starred on the mound. Lancour allowed five baserunners (three hits, two walks) before giving way to Berendt. Berendt earned the win with 2.1 hitless shutout innings. For the Pointers, Nick Paulsen tossed 4.1 shutout innings in the start. Austin Syvertson added 1.2 scoreless innings in relief.

Franklin College continued their spring break trip on Monday afternoon, taking on the Oles of St. Olaf College in the first of two straight matchups between the two teams. The Grizzlies (14-4) got clutch hitting and shutdown pitching over the final three innings, erasing a three-run deficit to take a 9-8 victory over the Oles (4-5). The Grizzlies got off to a great start, scoring four times in the top half of the first inning. Logan Demkovich, Sean Sullivan and Adam Taylor all knocked in runs with doubles and the Grizzlies got another run from an error, but the Oles answered with four runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to tie things up. Demkovich tagged on a run in the second with his eighth home run of the year, but the Grizzly offense would stall out over the next four frames. St. Olaf plated two in the fourth and one in both the fifth and sixth to take an 8-5 advantage into the top of the seventh. Matthew Earley cut the Oles' lead to 8-6 with an RBI double in the seventh and one inning later, the Grizzlies used their patience to take the lead. Four batters reached by walk or hit by pitch and Tysen Lipscomb, Noah Wood and Sullivan all knocked in runs to put FC in front. Alex Reinoehl took over from there, allowing just one runner to reach over the last two innings to earn his third save of the season. Mitch Merica (2-1) worked three innings in relief to get the win. Jackson Young got the start for FC, allowing three earned runs over four innings.

One day after winning both games of a doubleheader against Monmouth, the Ripon Red Hawks finished off a three-game sweep of the Fighting Scots with a 10-4 road victory. Ripon also out-hit Monmouth by a 14-6 margin, en route to their fourth consecutive victory. The Red Hawks (7-5, 3-0 MWC) struck first on Monday, scoring two runs in the top of the second, thanks to a two-run single off the bat of Cam Stampfl. After Monmouth (6-10, 0-3 MWC) tied things up with a pair of runs in the third, Ripon grabbed the lead for good in the fifth, as Sam Ott drove in a pair of runs with a single and Evan Barbian added an RBI single to put Ripon up 5-2. Brock Warren would add an RBI double later in the game, while Nick Tenny recorded a pair of RBI. Jake Pankratz would also drive in two with his first home run of the season. Tenny led the Red Hawks with three hits on the day, while Ott, Barbian, and Stampfl each posted a pair of base knocks. Brock Turkington (2-0) earned the victory, allowing one run on two hits and striking out three in 2.1 innings of work. Mauricio Huesca Villegas recorded his first career save, allowing four hits and striking out six without issuing a walk in 4.2 scoreless innings of relief.

Wisconsin Lutheran College scored two first-inning runs but host Carroll responded with multiple runs over five of six innings, as the Pioneers defeated the Warriors 15-4 in non-conference action on a chilly Monday afternoon at Frame Park. The Warriors plated a pair of first-inning runs but the Pioneers responded with four runs on three hits in the bottom half of the first to take the lead for good. CU added to its total with three runs each over the next three innings to take a 13-2 lead. The Pioneers out hit WLC 10-6 on the day and recieved eight walks in the game.

Beloit swept a pair from Grinnell 5-3 and 10-7 but it was a record setting day for the Pioneer pitching staff. Grinnell College pitchers tied a school record for strikeouts in a game during the opening end of a twin bill against Beloit College Monday afternoon at Pioneer Park. Paced by starter Josh Witte, the Pioneers struck out 18 batters to tie a mark established last year against Knox College. Witte finished one shy of the individual school record by striking out 15 batters in six innings of work. Beloit was held off the scoreboard for seven innings and then the Buccaneers managed five runs in the eighth and made that lead hold. Beloit (6-7, 2-1 Midwest Conference) took advantage of four Grinnell errors and pounded out 11 hits to complete the sweep with a 13-2 win in the second game. The visitors tallied four runs in the fifth, three in the seventh and three more in the eighth.

Sophomore outfielder Matthew Carlsen had a standout day at the dish driving in seven of the Royals 12 runs while going 3-for-5. Bethel University picked up its ninth straight win defeating Crown 12-2 at Hargis Park. Carlsen's seven RBIs is the most by a Royal since April 27, 2010 when Erik Anderson drove in six against Hamline. Carlsen drove in the first run of the game in the third despite flying into a double play. In the fourth Carlsen capped out a seven-run inning launching a grand slam on the first pitch he saw over the right field fence. Jordan Krupke drove in his second run of the day making it 9-1 in the fifth as he went 4-for-5 at the dish scoring three times. Carlsen drove in two more on a single to left in the fifth extending the lead to double digits. John Solfest picked up his first collegiate win giving up three hits in five innings of work. He surrendered one run and struck out four on 62 pitches.

Coe closed a three-game series with Wartburg with an 8-3 win on the road on Monday. Coe got on the scoreboard after an error and balk brought in two runs in the second inning. The Kohawks scored another run in the third inning to make the score 3-0, but the Knights got one run back in the bottom half of the third. The Knights had bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth after three straight walks but were not able to bring any runs across. After multiple innings with just one hit, Coe added a run in the seventh inning with a homerun to make the score 4-1. The Kohawks followed it up with a four run eighth inning after a two RBI single and an error made the score 8-1. Wartburg was down to its last out when Jurgensen walked and then Goodhue hit a deep homer to left-center field to bring the score to 8-3. Coe closed the game to win 8-3 and take the series two games to one.

Behind the best offensive output of the 2022 season, Concordia University Chicago picked up a 12-7 non-conference win over North Park on Monday afternoon. The Cougars pounded out 14 hits and got four and two-thirds innings of scoreless relief from Chris Villafuerte in the win. Garry Maynard had his best day of the season, going 3-5 with four RBIs. Chris Villafuerte picked up his first win of the season, working 4.2 innings of relief. He did not allow a hit.

UW-Stout used big innings in both games and had solid relief pitching to record a sweep in the team's conference opening doubleheader against UW-Platteville Monday at Woodside Sports Complex. The Blue Devils won the first game 7-5 using a four-run third inning to hold off the Pioneers and a popped out six runs in the eighth inning of the second game for a 13-5 win. In the opener, the Blue Devils' Jace Baumann struck out four to pick up the win, Dak Doyle pitched two scoreless innings to nab the save and Stout (7-5, 2-0 WIAC) overcame six errors to post the conference-opening win. In the second game, Stout was able to take advantage of Pioneer errors as the Blue Devils scored three runs in the first inning as Charlie Szykowny and Joel Thimsen scored assisted by errors. Jake Schirpke kept the hot bat and drove in Endreas with a double to push Stout to a 3-0 lead. Thimsen drove in two runs in the third inning with a double to give Stout a 5-0 lead. Stout exploded in the eighth inning for six runs and cruised to a win.
