Fishbaugh Field was opened in style Tuesday afternoon to begin the home schedule for Otterbein Baseball, which blasted cross-town rival Capital by double digits in both games to start league play on a high note. The Cardinals, winning both Roush Auto Rivalry Showdowns in run-rule fashion, prevailed by scores of 11-1 and 14-4 to sweep the Comets and gain initial possession of the new rivalry oar. Otterbein also launches Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play a smooth 2-0 on the chilly day. Otterbein literally walked it off in the seventh, as Noah Sprowls saw ball four with the bases loaded to get his team's cushion to double digits. Another run-rule decision would come into play in the eighth, as Brayden Quincel slipped a 2-RBI double inside third base to promptly finish the day. Noah Sprowls hit a perfect 3 for 3, Sam Edgell hit safely (in both games) to extend his notable hitting streak to 20 games, and Carter racked up another five RBI's.

FDU-Florham defeated New Jersey City University, 16-2, in non-conference action this afternoon at Vincent J. and Lenda F. Naimoli Ballpark. FDU-Florham (14-5) scored seven runs in the bottom of the opening frame on just four hits after starter Anthony Molina shut the Gothic Knights down 1-2-3 in the top of the first. The devils kept adding runs and, with the lead at 15-1, the Devils used their bullpen effectively and got one inning of relief from five different student-athletes following a strong four inning start by Molina. Molina (1-0) earned the win in four innings as he scattered five hits and surrendered just one earned run on the day. With today's victory, FDU-Florham now has 14 wins, the most in a season since 2016 and the most under the direction of head coach Jamie Quinn.

Lynchburg freshman Eric Hiett drove in the go-ahead run during a 5-4 win over Hampden-Sydney Tuesday afternoon. Hiett went 2-4 batting second in the No. 5-ranked Hornets lineup. He recorded three RBI, walked, and scored a run as well. Jack Bachmore made the start and pitched four innings. He received run support in the first two frames as PJ Alvanos and Hiett singled in runs. However, the junior lefty allowed three runners to cross home in the third and left the game the next inning. He fanned two batters during the outing.

Penn State Altoona returned to action on Tuesday afternoon, traveling east to take on non-conference opponent Juniata College in a doubleheader at Langdon-Goodale Field. Penn State Altoona (8-10) pulled out an 8-7 victory in game one, and Juniata (6-11) won the nightcap 5-1. The Lions fell behind early but fought back to take the lead in the third inning. Juniata tied things up in the bottom of the fifth, but Penn State Altoona reclaimed the lead in the sixth and held on the rest of the way. The teams faced off in a nine-inning contest in game two, with Juniata establishing a lead in the bottom of the third and never relinquishing it.

Through a doubleheader seeing cold temperatures and harsh windchill, No. 16 Loras College (19-2, 3-2 A-R-C) still found it in themselves to stay hot both in the dugout and on the field with two wins against the Central College Dutch (9-6, 0-5 A-R-C). The Duhawks saw the bats warm up in both games, rattling off a combined total of 25 runs on the day. Relief pitcher Julian Lopez finished off the game, getting the save with three strikeouts and only one run off of four hits. The Duhawks added one more run in the game in the top of the ninth as Fennelly scored on an RBI single from Cullen. The 13-6 win brought the Duhawks back to an even record in A-R-C play and gave them more momentum heading into the second affair of the evening. Pitching reigned supreme for the Duhawks in the nightcap against the Dutch. Matt Jeter saw the start on the bump, in which he would go for five full innings striking out four batters and only allowing two hits. Confident from Jeter's work on the defensive side, the Duhawks once again found the sweet spot on their bats on the offensive side.
