In a game ripe with playoff-type atmosphere, the 16th-ranked Texas-Dallas Comets rallied for a game-winning run in their half of the 8th inning Saturday to claim a 7-6 victory in the finale of a three-game American Southwest Conference series with Concordia Texas. The two longtime ASC rivals battled for over 3-1/2 hours in a nip-and-tuck battle that saw UTD's Jacob Perry (picured) score the game-winner in the 8th on a second-straight hit batter after two singles and another HBP had loaded the bases for UTD in a 6-6 game with one out.

St. Joseph's College (L.I.) opened the season with a non-conference split with #1 Cortland at Gregg Alfano Field on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles start the season at 1-1 after they came back from a four-run deficit to claim an 11-9 victory in game one before falling to the Red Dragons, who now sit at 7-2 overall, 9-3 in game two. In game one, the Red Dragons went on to load the bases in the top of the fifth to set up a grand slam from Dan Coleman and after St. Joe's Paul Gugliuzzo (2-for-3, 2R) was intentionally walked, Ryan Decoursey launched a grand slam for the Eagles.

No. 3 Birmingham-Southern opened up conference play with two wins over The University of the South. BSC took game one 3-1, and won the second game in walk-off fashion 4-3. The teams would remain deadlocked at 1-1 in game one, but in the fifth inning Noah Best broke the tie. Best hit a solo home run to right-center field that gave Birmingham-Southern a one run lead in the middle stages of the game. The Panthers added one more on in the seventh. BSC did not allow a run after the third inning and only gave up two hits the rest of the game. Game two would remained tied until the bottom of the ninth inning. Luke DePiero drew a walk, after an out was recorded Andrew Dutton singled sending DePiero first to third. With runners on the corners Cole Steadman looked to walk it off. The Tigers would intentionally walk him bringing Ian Hancock to the plate. Hancock hit into a fielder choice up the middle, scoring on the play was DePiero giving the Panthers their second win of the day, winning 4-3.

No. 4 Adrian looked to get back on the winning track on Saturday afternoon as they went up against Greensboro College. The Bulldogs exploded for 16 runs while only allowing one which came on a solo homer in the sixth. Kevin Cardentey had a day at the plate finishing 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Maxwell Denny pitched 8.1 innings allowing just two hits with one run and six strikeouts to record the win.

The fifth-ranked Johns Hopkins Blue Jays erased a 2-1 deficit with a four-run third-inning outburst to fuel a 6-3 win over 13th-ranked Southern Maine Saturday afternoon at Stromberg Stadium. After Jason Komula drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the third to give the Huskies a 2-1 lead, the Blue Jays rallied with four runs in the bottom of the inning to grab a 5-2 lead that they would never relinquish.

The No. 6 ranked UW-Whitewater Warhawks wrapped up a four-game series against No. 17 Trinity Saturday with a 9-7 victory at Wolff Municipal Stadium in San Antonio, Texas. The Warhawks (2-2 overall) took the lead for good with four runs in the top of the sixth inning and limited the Tigers to one run over the final four frames. Left fielder Matt Scolan tallied two hits and two runs batted to lead UW-W offensively. Catcher Ryan Norton posted two hits, one run scored and one RBI, and second baseman Bennett Frazer scored a pair of runs. Designated hitter Matt Korman reached base three times with one hit and a pair of walks. Hayden Fox and Cade Berendt split pitching duties for UW-W. Fox pitched the first 4 1/3 innings, striking out two over that span, and Berendt earned the win with six strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings.

Extending their winning streak to seven games, North Central (Ill.) scored a total of 25 runs on the day as they swept a doubleheader against Ripon College 14-11 and 11-2, on Saturday at Lee Pfund Stadium. Nick Tarrell hit his first home run of the game in the eighth inning before belting his second in the ninth. Nolan Shannon held off the Ripon comeback and earned his second save of the season as the Cardinals won game one 14-11. Klemm earned the win as he moved to 2-0 on the season while Shannon posted his second save of the year. Lamm held the Red Hawks to no runs in his five innings pitched in game two. In the bottom of the fifth, Wojcik hit his first home run of the season to push the Cardinals' lead to seven. The Red Hawks added a run in the top half of the eighth before Rob Marinec and Paul Beverly hit back-to-back home runs to secure the 11-2 win. Jason Shanner earned his second save of the year by pitching four innings and striking out nine. Lamm improved to 3-0 on the year with five innings of shutout baseball while striking out eight. On the day, Marinec drove in eight runs on six hits while Lehnen went five-for-five in game one with two runs and two RBIs. Both Klemm and Lamm move into second-place all-time with 20 career wins, just three away from tying Matt Richards' record of 23 career wins.

Eighth-ranked Salisbury went yard three times en route to smashing the 13th-ranked Southern Maine Huskies, 17-3, on Saturday afternoon at Babb Field at Stromberg Stadium on the campus of Johns Hopkins University. Kavi Caster set the tone from the downbeat, leading off the game with a home run to straightaway center to put the Sea Gulls up 1-0. Salisbury put together another big inning in the sixth for a 15-3 cushion. Caster punctuated the game in the eighth with a two-run blast to dead central, his second homer of the game, giving Salisbury the 17-3 it kept through the final out.

If the first start of the 2022 season for Eastern Connecticut State University's number one starter in junior right-handed pitcher Billy Oldham is a sign of what is to come the rest of the year, the Warriors (2-0) new ace will be a force to be reckon with. Punching out a career-high 14 batters while only walking one and allowing one hit across seven innings (96 pitches), Oldham's (1-0) game one start helped propel Eastern to a 5-0 victory over Hood College. The game one win snapped Hood's four-game win streak and was the first time in which the two teams faced each other on the diamond. Momentum carried over into the second game in which the Warriors came from behind to sweep the doubleheader with a 5-2 win over the Blazers (4-5) at FCC Baseball Field in Frederick, Maryland on Saturday.

No. 10 Aurora opened the 2022 season with a dominating 10-0 victory over Wheaton College in the opening game of the spring trip in Tucson, Arizona. Jett Wedekind had a double and a home run to power the Spartans. Corey Vondra added two singles. AU starting pitcher Josh Reinhardt scattered four hits over five innings of shutout work.

The 11th-ranked Rowan Profs split a doubleheader at Virginia Wesleyan (6-2), with the Profs winning the first game, 4-2, and the Marlins taking the nightcap, 3-2, on a walk-off single in the eighth inning. Tyler Cannon went 5-for-8 at the plate for Rowan (2-1) in the two games, scoring three runs and driving in one. Eli Atiya pitched six scoreless innings and notched five strikeouts to earn the victory. Michael Miles had two innings of work with three strikeouts and Christian Bascunan earned the first save of his career, working the final inning and allowing just one hit and striking out one. The Marlins tied game two in the seventh on a two-run double and sent it to the extra inning in the eight. Virginia Wesleyan had two men on and Matt Sinko came through with an RBI single to allow Jaelen Hines to score the winning run.

Webster was back in action this afternoon when they played host to the North Park (Ill.) University Vikings for the second game of the Webster Classic. The Gorloks defeated the Vikings by a final score of 2-1 to improve to 4-1 on the season. With the loss, the Vikings fall to 1-6 on the year. Carter Hunt got the start in this one as he allowed four hits while striking out five in four scoreless innings. Ben Kowalski (3-0) came in to relieve Hunt and picked up the win as he allowed just five hits while striking out three in the final five innings of the game. The Gorloks put together nine hits in the win. Ben Swords led the way at the plate as he went 2-for-3 with two RBI. In addition, R.J. LaRocco went 1-for-3 with a run scored and Bryson Rigsby scored a run to round out the top performers for the Gorloks.

Lynchburg junior Avery Neaves went 3-4 with a home run as the 15th-ranked Hornets beat York (Pa.) 8-6 on Saturday afternoon. Neaves homered in the bottom of the first inning and quickly erased a 2-0 deficit. Neaves paces the team with 13 hits this season and has five multi-hit games so far. He tallied another hit in the eighth for his second three-hit game of the year. Lynchburg's seven-game winning streak is its longest since tallying nine Ws in a row from Apr. 21 to May 15, 2021. Jack Bachmore came on in relief in the top of the sixth with the bases loaded and no outs. He allowed a run but struck out three batters to preserve Lynchburg's lead. He fanned two more in the top of the seventh. With 15 punchouts on the season for Bachmore, he has tallied nine of them in three relief appearances. Grayson Thurman came out for the top of the eighth. He faced the go-ahead run with runners on second and third but worked out of trouble with his second K of the inning. In the ninth, Thurman struck out the side and secured Lynchburg's seventh-straight win. He also grabbed his fourth multi-inning save of the season. On average, the senior is getting 7.25 outs per save.

Oswego State's offense showed up in a big way en route to a 27-14 win over Keystone in the opener and a 9-2 victory over No. 18 Shenandoah on Saturday. Paul Tammaro hit home runs in his first two at-bats and Oswego drew four walks for an early 3-0 lead. Graduate student Ryan Weiss went 2-for-5 in this one with two RBI to help Oswego pull away. On the mound, senior Kieran Finnegan was impressive, going 6.1 innings, yielding just two earned runs and striking out 10. Reliever Tony Poveda went the final 2.2, retiring all eight batters he faced, including a pair of K's.

William Paterson (7-1) took two from visiting No. 20 St. John Fisher (1-2) winning 5-1 in nine innings and 8-5 in seven innings. In game one, Colin Lombardo was 2-for-3 with a triple, RBI and run scored. Chris Liriano finished 2-for-3 and touched home once. Vinnie Martin posted two hits in the nightcap, a pair of RBI and a run scored. Dan Carter went 2-for-4 with an RBI at the plate, and recorded the save with 0.2 inning of one-hit, one-strikeout relief.

No. 21 LaGrange swept a non-conference doubleheader from Eastern Mennonite on Saturday at Cleaveland Field in Williamson Stadium. The Panthers (11-1) run-ruled the Royals in both games, winning 13-2 in eight innings in the first game, then completing the sweep with a 12-1 win in seven innings in the second game. The Panthers pounded the Royals' pitching for 29 hits on the day. LC scored 18 runs with two outs in the two games. Joe Ruth and Jared Aldridge each hit a home run. Jack Layrisson had two doubles included in his four hits and drove in two runs. He has a team-leading 17 RBIs.Ruth, Cael Chatham, and McKinley Erves all had four RBIs. Ruth had four hits, including the home run, and raised his season average to .453. Rhett Hebert was officially 0-for-4 in the two games, but walked once, hit by a pitch three other times, and scored six runs. Baley Coleman raised his season record to 4-0 in the first game. Coleman allowed a run on six hits, walked two, and struck out seven in five innings. Tanner Chafin surrendered a run in two innings of work, while Cal Fuller worked a scoreless eighth inning.

Jalen Parks homered three times on Saturday as California Lutheran took the series from the Whitman Blues. The Kingsmen won game one 6-5 in 11 innings, and the Blues evened with an 11-3 win in the second. Cal Lutheran won the series with a 16-10 score in game three. The Purple and Gold improved to 12-2 while the Blues dropped to 3-11. Game one was called due to darkness after the score was tied 5-5 after 10 innings. The Kingsmen forced the extra innings just in time as Austin Carrillo singled in the bottom of the ninth bringing in a run to make the deficit just 5-4. A few batters later, Zach Bullard tied the game with a single to right center. The Kingsmen finished it off early Saturday morning in the 11th. Whitman took game two and the series came down to the third game. The Kingsmen had a 6-run streak in the bottom of the fourth of the final game of the day to set themselves up 9-3 going into the fifth. The blues fought back and were down just 10-12 to the Purple and Gold. The bottom of the eighth hammered the nail for the Kingsmen as they scored another five runs. Kyle Reuser was on base for the Kingsmen when Ethan Doshi hit him in with a single. Heverly tabbed another RBI with a single down the left field line.

Cabrini capped its spring break trip on a high note as they handed the #24 Kean Cougars their first loss of the season, 10-1. The Cavs increased their margin to five with two runs in the top of the ninth, as Mack McKisson hit a two RBI single down the left field line, 7-2. Cabrini closed out the game with a 1-2-3 inning to hand the Cougars their first loss of the season. Division I transfer, Pat Toal, pitched his first complete game of the season and remains a perfect 4-0 on the year. The sophomore threw seven strikeouts while allowing just six hits and two earned runs. Dustin Sutton led the way for the Cavs offensively as he went 3-for-5 at the plate for 2 RBI's. Chavez-Zottnick also had two hits along with one RBI. Five others recorded a single hit.

Only one day after winning its 2022 season opener by a final score of 13-2, No. 25 Denison won its second game of the 5th Annual Berry Invitational, but this time, the Big Red needed a ninth-inning comeback to take down the host school Berry 9-4 on Saturday. It was the Eric Colaco show throughout the game for Denison. Colaco finished 3-for-4 with four RBI's and two runs scored while Spencer was 2-for-3 with two runs and two walks, and both Fierer and Alvarez were 2-for-4.Out of the bullpen, Kenny Lippman allowed only one hit and one run in his 2.1 innings of work starting in the fourth while Henry Haack (1-0) allowed only two hits, one walk and one run through the final 3.1 innings to earn the win.
