Kime Wins 300th career game in sweep

GREENSBURG, Pa. -- On Wednesday, the Mount Aloysius Baseball team traveled to Pitt-Greensburg, to take on the Bobcats. It was delayed a day, due to field conditions on Tuesday. The wait was worth it, as the Mounties swept the Bobcats and won the 300th game of Head Coach Kevin Kime's career in the process. They gave him win number 300 in Game One, with a 6-5 victory.

Leaders
- Tyler Quade (Mechanicsville, Md., Chopticon) had multiple hits in each game, including a three-run homerun in the victory in Game One. He also earned the win on the mound in Game Two, allowing only three hits over 7.0 innings.
- Troy Emert (Rockwood, PA, Rockwood) added two hits in Game One and three RBIs in Game Two.
- Douglas Cannon (Valencia, PA, Mars Area) earned the win in Game One, throwing 3.0 innings out of the bullpen, allowing two hits and striking out two. The second strikeout ended the game, getting Cannon out of a bases loaded jam.

How It Happened
Game One
- Pitt-Greensburg held the Mounties scoreless in the top of the first inning. The Bobcats loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom half of the inning. Their first run scored on a sacrifice fly and they added a second run on a wild pitch, giving them a 2-0 lead.
- The Mounties responded in the top of the second inning. They scored their first marker on a double steal play, with runners at first and third. Then, with two runners on and two outs, Quade homered, giving the Mounties a 4-2 lead.
- Both team remained scoreless through the third inning. In the bottom of the fourth, the first four Bobcat batters reached base, on three hits and a walk, with the first three all scoring, putting them back ahead, 5-4.
- In the top of the sixth inning, Emert led off with a single and was followed by Joshua Brown (Manassas, VA, Osbourn Park), who walked, giving the Mounties two runners on and nobody out. James Rice (Leechburg, PA, Greensburg Central Catholic) would come in to pinch hit, reaching on an error by the third basemen, allowing both runners to score and giving the Mounties a 6-5 lead.
- The final fireworks came in the bottom of the seventh inning. Pitt-Greensburg was able to load the bases with one out. Cannon induced a pop up to first base and struck the final batter out looking to secure the win.

Game Two
- Mount Aloysius put the pedal to the floor to start the second game, scoring multiple runs in each of the first three frames. Six different Mounties had an RBI to score the eight runs, with Emert driving in two runs and another scoring on wild pitch. 8-0 Mounties.
- The Bobcats got one run back in the bottom of the third inning, using a walk, an error, and one of their three hits to push it across, making the score, 8-1.
- In the top of the sixth, Mount Aloysius added another run, as scored on a wild pitch to make it 9-1.
- Mount Aloysius added three more runs in the seventh inning. The first two came on a Trap Wentling (Greenville, PA, Greenville) homerun, after Jared Houser (State College, PA, State College) doubled to lead off the inning. Tyler Suder (Boswell, PA, North Star) then followed with a double and was driven in by with an RBI single.
- After a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the seventh, the Mounties earned the victory, 12-1.

Into the Box Scores
- Eight of the nine Mounties who played in Game Two scored a run, with four of them scoring twice.
- Mount Aloysius only used three pitchers on the day. Cannon and Dylan Coyle (Canonsburg, PA, Canon-McMillan) split the duties in Game One, then Quade threw a complete game in Game Two.

- Mount Aloysius will travel to Penn State Greater Allegheny to play a non-conference game. The game is scheduled to be played at Pullman Park, in Butler, with first pitch at 7:00 p.m.
