2018 Regional Previews
The eight regionals will be held May 17-20 (May 21 if needed) with each regional champion booking a ticket to Appleton, Wis., for the championship round that will be held May 25-29 (May 30 if needed) at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium (hosted by Lawrence and UW-Oshkosh).
Who's in the tournament? The playoff field consists of 58 teams. Forty (40) Pool A bids will be awarded to conference automatic qualifiers through May 14. On May 14, the national selection committee decides who gets the two Pool B and 16 Pool C at-large bids. and is scheduled to release the playoff field early on Monday, May 15. D-III World Series format: The D-III World Series format has two four-team double-elimination pools with the winner of each pool meeting in a best-of-three series. Previously the format was an eight-team double-elimination tournament. The regionals will continue to be a 6 or 8 team double elimination tournament.
