Playoff field announced

The NCAA Division III baseball committee has announced the 60 teams that will compete in the 2023 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship. As is the new normal, four teams will compete in double-elimination play at 14 regional sites and two sites will have two teams which meet in a best-of-five series.

Winners of the 16 regional tournaments will qualify for the second super regional round in Division III baseball history, with the teams competing in a best-of-three format. The Division III World Series will be held in Eastlake, Ohio, for the first time.

We missed on four teams this year as the D3baseball.com mock committee matched 56 of the 60 teams ultimately given playoff bids. It was a big day for the SCIAC as the committee elected to take all four teams in the SCIAC tournament. We saw a team blocking many of the SCIAC teams that made it in while the committee saw a blocking team in Region 4. While we had Catholic as the first team out, They made it in with a couple spots to fill as we are guessing that Cal Lutheran was the 19th at-large selection.

The teams were announced via a selection show on Monday, as follows:

Regional at East Texas Baptist #: East Texas Baptist vs Centenary (La.), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps* vs Concordia-Texas
