Maryniak leads Misericordia to MAC Freedom title

Tournament MVP Connor Maryniak lifted the Misericordia University baseball team to the MAC Freedom championship with a 2-1 over Arcadia in the second game of the semifinal series, Saturday afternoon at Tambur Field.

Maryniak tossed a complete-game four-hitter and helped his own cause by contributing to both Misericordia runs.

He gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead with a sacrifice fly in the first inning and scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth as Misericordia improved to 15-0 at Tambur Field.

Garrett McIlhenney and Joe Comins had two hits each and Jared Hoffman had the game-winning single in the eighth inning.

The Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Jack Regenye reached on an infield single and stole second. He moved to third on Brock Bollinger's single up the middle and came home on Maryniak's

Arcadia tied it the third and the scored stood until the eighth.

Maryniak drew a one-out walk in the bottom of the eighth and moved to second on Comins' liner to center field. Hoffman followed with a line drive single to left to bring Maryniak home with the winning run.

Arcadia put two runners on in the top of the ninth, but Owen Cordner turned a potential hit into a 6-3 game-ending double play.
