Season coming up Aces for Groff

La Plume, PA (9-1-10) - Former Keystone College baseball standout Eric Groff will be finishing his first season of professional baseball at the Triple A level.

Groff, who was drafted in the 44th round in the 2010 Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks, will make the jump from Rookie ball to the highest level in minor league baseball.

Groff will join the Diamondbacks Triple A affiliate in Reno, Nevada in time for tonight's game against Portland. The (Reno) Aces compete in the Pacific Coast League.

Prior to his promotion Groff had been a member of the Missoula Osprey, which competes in the Rookie Pioneer League. In 63 games with the Osprey, Groff batted .281, while driving in 40 and scoring 31 runs. The Lebanon, PA native knocked out 70 hits, which included 15 doubles, eight home runs and three triples.

The Aces are coached by a trio of former major league players, including manager Brett Butler who was one of the premier leadoff hitters in baseball during his career.

Former Boston Red Sox and California Angel Rick Burleson is the team's hitting coach, while Mike Parrott is the Aces' pitching coach.
