MEMPHIS, TN - The Mississippi College baseball team used a balanced effort to dominate Rhodes College, 11-1, on Saturday afternoon at Stauffer Field.  Five different Choctaws tallied at least two hits with junior Clay Crosswhite leading the way with three.

Senior Craig Mackay (2-0) picked up the win for MC, going striking out five batters and allowing just two hits over 5.0 innings.  Austin Carden (0-2) took the loss for the Lynx, allowing four runs and striking out eight over 4.0 frames.

The Choctaws got on the scoreboard first in the first inning on a two-out, bases loaded walk by junior shortstop Mike Kerdock that scored senior right fielder Stuart Magee.

Magee ripped an RBI double and the Choctaws capitalized on a Rhodes error to tally three runs in the second inning.

Senior center fielder Andy Smith drove in two runs on a single, highlighting a five-run fifth inning that put the game away.  The Lynx would score their only run on a bases loaded hit-by-pitch by Mackay.

The bullpen shut down the Lynx after Mackay's five strong innings.  Junior Bo Craig pitched the sixth inning, allowing one hit and striking out two, while junior Zac Tucker allowed one hit in a scoreless seventh.

Junior Ryan Glover and senior Brock Campbell combined to strike out four and allow just two hits over the final two scoreless innings.

Smith, Crosswhite, and junior third baseman Spencer Brunson each drove in two runs in the game, while 14 different Choctaws tallied a plate appearance in the game.
