Behind six innings of work and two earned runs by Mike Wood (Hudson, Mass.), JWU outlasted a late scare by the Nittany Lions with an 8-6 victory.

The Wildcats got on the board first in the top of the third inning when a two RBI double by Mike Murphy (Pawtucket, R.I) plated Joe Coppola (Ridgewood, N.J.) and Nick Alosco (Mahopac, N.Y.). Murphy then scored on an RBI single by sophomore Zach Boyes (West Warwick, R.I.) to give the Wildcats the 3-1 lead after three innings.

JWU would score a run in each of the next five innings to take the 8-3 lead into the 9th inning. Junior Chris DePalma (Taunton, Mass.) came in, with two runners on, to record the final three outs of the game and pick up the save for the Wildcats.

With the victory, the Wildcats improve to 1-4 while Penn St.-Abington falls to 0-5 on the year. The Wildcats will finish up their spring trip in Newport News, Va. to take on The Apprentice School on March 6th.
