Unlucky 13th Inning as WPI Falls in Florida Finale

Orlando, FL --- Freshman Sean Kelly (Shrewsbury, MA) recorded 3 RBI, including two to keep the WPI alive in the 10th inning as Baseball was downed by Rhode Island College 6-4 in 13 innings on Saturday. The second game scheduled for 11am has been postponed due to the Engineers' flight home.

The Crimson and Gray jumped out with a pair of runs in the first inning on a Nick Bean (Middleboro, MA) single to right center. Two batters later, Kelly knocked in the second run when he reached on a fielder's choice.

An Anchromen 2-RBI double tied up the game at 2-2 in the sixth. Rhode Island College added two runs in the 10th for the 4-2 advantage.

WPI responded in its half of the 10th as Alex Posch (Hopedale, MA) doubled, Bean and Mitch McClune(Pembroke, MA) walked to load the bases for Kelly's 2-run single to bring the game to a 4-4 draw.

Rhode Island College used a sacrifice fly and a double to left to score the final two runs of the day in the 13th inning for the win.

Sean Minor (Sherman Oaks, CA) went eight innings and struck out 10, while Kyle Boucher (Manchester, NH) is charged with the loss (1-1).

WPI is back on the field Tuesday when it ventures to Johnson & Wales for a 3:30 first pitch.
