(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The 18th-ranked Thomas More College baseball team fell, 8-6, to Transylvania University today (Tuesday, March 22, 2011) in a non-conference game at Thomas More Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the loss, the Saints fall to 9-1 on the season.  With the win, the Pioneers improve to 8-3 overall.

Thomas More scored three in the second, one in the fifth and two in the eighth, while Transylvania plated one in the fourth, one in the fifth, four in the eighth and two in the ninth.

Three Saints had multiple hits in the game as senior left fielder Max Robbins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) was two-for-four with a run batted-in, sophomore designated hitter Grant Lewis (Mason, Ohio/Mason) was two-for-four with a RBI and a run scored and sophomore right fielder Ryan Darner (Burlington, Ky./Covington Catholic) was two-for-four with a run scored.  Junior third baseman Andrew Thole (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) hit a game-tying home run in the eighth inning.

On the mound, sophomore Mike Hager (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) pitched five innings and gave up two runs (both earned) on five hits, while striking out four and earning a no-decision.  Freshman Andy Roenker (Taylor Mill, Ky./Holy Cross) pitched one and one-third innings of relief and gave up two runs (both unearned), while striking out two.

The Saints return to action tomorrow (Wednesday, March 23) when they travel to Hanover, Indiana to play Hanover College in a non-conference game starting at 4 p.m.
