WORCESTER, MA- The Wheaton College baseball team used a three-run sixth inning to snap a three-all tie against host Clark University on Tuesday before hanging on for a 6-4 victory in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action at Granger Field.

The Lyons, who are receiving national votes according to today's D3baseball.com poll, beat the Cougars for the second time this season while winning for the sixth time in their last seven games to improve to 10-5 overall and 4-4 in league play.  Clark had its three-game winning streak end in falling to 11-7 and 1-4.

Freshman Nick Filloramo (Rochester, MA/Old Rochester Regional) improved to 3-0 on the hill, while classmate Ryan Grant (Easton, MA/Avon Old Farms School) picked up his fourth save since last Thursday.  Filloramo fanned five and walked two while giving up three earned runs on 10 hits in five innings.  Grant tossed a shutout ninth, while senior southpaw Kevin Calabro (Andover, MA/Andover) turned in two scoreless frames with two strikeouts.

Offensively, senior Hadi Raad (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY/Hastings) plated two runs while scoring two to go alongside his first homer of the season.  Classmate Sean Munley (Ewing, NJ/The Hun School of Princeton) went 2-for-3 with two runs and a pair of walks, while sophomore Dan Gusovsky (Andover, MA/Andover) added two hits.

Clark piled up 14 hits on the day, with junior Nicholas Kellogg (Florence, MA/Northampton) and freshman Brian Sullivan (Auburn, MA/Auburn) combining for half of those.  Senior Benjamin Seel (Belgrade, ME/Messalonskee) was saddled with the loss, allowing four earned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and no walks in five-plus innings.

After the hosts took a 1-0 lead in the second, Raad quickly erased their edge with a leadoff home run in the third.  Four batters later, sophomore Sean Ryan (Norton, MA/Norton) recorded a sacrifice fly to give Wheaton its first lead.  The teams then combined to plate single runs over the next three half innings to leave the score tied at three.

In the sixth, seniors Eric Laliberte (Nashua, NH/Bishop Guertin) and Tad Skelley (Wolfeboro, NH/Holderness School) and junior Hal Landers (Salem, NH/Salem) each notched an RBI.  After the Cougars made the score 6-4 with a run in the home half, Calabro produced a 1-2-3 seventh before yielding one hit in the eighth.

Wheaton and Clark will finish its season series tomorrow in Norton at 3:30 p.m.
