ATLANTA (April 1) -- Hendrix College went ahead with a 4-3 advantage in the top of the seventh, however, Emory University rallied for six runs in the bottom half of the frame and the Eagles would hold on for the 9-5 win on Friday afternoon at Chappell Park.

Emory junior righty Paul Schwendel fired six shutout innings to set the pace. The Eagles took a 3-0 lead after a one-run double in the first and a pair of RBI base knocks in the fifth.

Hendrix stranded seven runners in the first six innings until junior Andrew Thames ignited a two out four-run spree with a leadoff single in the seventh. First year Collin Radack drove in Thames and then first year Jacob Perschke sent three runs across (one unearned) on a base knock to right field.

The Eagles answered with their game-changing frame on five hits and three errors in the seventh. Emory scored three runs before Hendrix recorded an out on a sac bunt.

Hendrix junior lefty Matt Diehl was pinned with the loss as he started the seventh. First year righty Justin Mosbey started on the hill and scattered nine hits over the first six innings. He walked four and struck out three.

Perschke finished the day with three RBI, while Thames and Radack had two hits apiece.

The two teams will square off again in a nine-inning affair on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. ET.
