Brunson's Two Bombs Leads Choctaws to 8-6 Victory

CLINTON, MS - Junior Spencer Brunson hit home runs in the first and ninth innings as the Choctaws downed East Texas Baptist, 8-6, on Friday night at Woods Field.

The Choctaws fell behind 3-1 after two innings, but sophomore Taylor Cloyd homered to center field to tie the game in the third.

The Choctaws jumped ahead in the fifth inning with run-scoring hits from Brunson, Shane Bennett, and Brandon Benton.

Brunson hit his second home run of the game in the ninth inning to give MC a two-run cushion.

Bennett took care of the rest, striking out the side to record his first save of the season.  Junior Ian Underwood pitched eight strong innings in his first start this season.

The Choctaws and the Tigers will play a doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow.
