ATLANTA (April 3) -- Emory University picked up its third win of the weekend over Hendrix College on Sunday afternoon at Chappell Park. Sophomore right-hander Caleb Long scattered eight hits and struck out seven to lead the Eagles to an 8-4 victory over the Warriors.
Emory (21-10) went ahead with three runs on three hits, including a two-run single by sophomore Daniel Iturry, in the third inning.
The Warriors (13-14) fought back and eventually grabbed a 4-3 advantage with two runs in the fourth and fifth frames. Junior Kyle Raskin and first year Nick Richardson collected RBI singles in the fourth, before Raskin sent two runs across in the fifth on a base knock up the middle.
Emory rallied for the come-back effort with five runs on five hits in the seventh inning. Junior Jonathan Reilly highlighted the inning with a two-run double down the left field line.
Long improved to 5-0 with the victory after allowing just two walks in the first 7.0 innings. Hendrix first year right-hander Will Harris suffered the loss after 6.1 innings, eight hits, seven earned runs, five walks, and two strikeouts.
Hendrix will be back in action when University of the Ozarks comes to Conway on April 5 for a 6 p.m. CT match-up.
