Senior starter Mark Williams (Fayetteville/Perry) threw five strong innings in which he scattered four hits and three walks while striking out seven to earn the win and improve to 3-1. Junior closer Kyle Lindquist (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) allowed one hit and fanned another over the final two frames to earn his seventh save of the spring.

The Pioneer offense did all it needed to do in the bottom of the fifth. Brockmeier led off with a double. Classmate Braden Park (Oxford/Talawanda) sacrificed him to third with a bunt. Sophomore Alex Toth (Painesville/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) then drove Brockmeier in with a sacrifice fly to provide the only run of the game.

Marietta's bats warmed up in game two as the Pioneers scored runs in every inning en route to the 17-3 victory.

Six different players had multiple hits, including senior John Snyder (Altoona, Pa./Altoona), who finished 3-for-4, and junior Tim Saunders (Alliance/Alliance), who went 3-for-5 with four RBI. Junior Kirby Becker (South Euclid/St. Ignatius) and sophomore Aaron Hopper (Wheelersburg/Wheelersburg) both added two hits and three RBI in the victory.

Becker walked and scored on a Saunders single in the first. Becker then hit a two-run single to right field to extend the Pioneers' advantage to 3-0 in the second.

Ohio Northern scored its first run of the day in the top of the third when Eric Yunker came through with a two-out RBI single. Hopper, however, launched a two-run home run to left field in the bottom of the frame to give his squad a 5-1 lead.

Saunders added a three-run double and Hopper contributed a RBI single to stretch the advantage to 9-1 in the fourth. Snyder then hit a double to plate another run in the fifth.

After the Polar Bears added an unearned run in the top of the sixth, Park answered with a RBI ground out in the bottom of the frame. Snyder scored the 11th run on a fielding error in the seventh.

Ohio Northern plated its third run on a wild pitch in the top of the eighth only for Marietta to erupt for five runs in its final at-bat to give it the 17-3 win. Freshman Josh Ungerbuehler (Cincinnati/Roger Bacon) singled home the first run. Becker drove in the second with a sacrifice fly. Sophomore Bryan Gregorich (Chardon/Chardon) followed with a RBI single, before sophomore Cort Thomas (Strongsville/Strongsville) capped the scoring with a two-run double.

Senior Casey Levens (Dayton/Centerville), who made his second start and first appearance on the mound since March 6, earned the victory to improve to 2-0.
